11/2

Returned to form, in first-time tongue strap, when second of 8 in novice hurdle at Newton Abbot (21.6f, good, 9/2) 13 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Likely contender.

Craven Bay^p,t¹⁸

Age: 7| Weight: 11-4| J: David Bass| T: Mrs L Hill| OR: 97

9/1

Won final 2 starts in points in May 2022 but well held both starts in this sphere, merely plugging on when third of 4 in novice at Uttoxeter (19.9f, good) 18 days ago. Likely a longer-term prospect.

Form: 24/11-33

Flying Standard²⁹⁵

Age: 6| Weight: 11-4| J: J M Quinlan| T: Miss A Murphy| BF

22/1

Fair and largely consistent handicapper on Flat for Chris Wall. Sold 6,000 gns in February and worth a check in market on NH debut for new yard.

Form:

Hedgehopper¹⁵

Age: 7| Weight: 11-4| J: Sean Houlihan| T: Sheila Lewis

200/1

Maiden pointer who has shown little in a couple of hurdles outings. Easy to look elsewhere.

Form: PP-2268

Ruby's Comet^h⁵⁴

Age: 5| Weight: 11-4| J: Ben Jones| T: Mrs D A Hamer

150/1

Half-brother to 3 winners but didn't offer much in a couple of bumpers and similar story on both starts in this sphere. Tries longer trip now.

Form: 08-86

Seinesational^b²⁵²

Age: 8| Weight: 11-4| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: Dr R D P Newland| OR: 101

9/4

Consistent performer who acquitted himself well, after 14 months off, when third in novice over C&D in October. Not in same form at Market Rasen next time but must enter calculations here.

Form: 4222/37-

Woodie Flash^p³⁴

Age: 5| Weight: 11-4| J: S Bowen| T: O Murphy

5/1

£20,000 purchase after getting off the mark in Irish points at the second attempt in February. Finished runner-up in a couple of small-field hurdles last month and should appreciate this stiffer test of stamina.

Form: 41-22

Presenting Nelly^t1³⁸

Age: 6| Weight: 10-11| J: Bridget Andrews| T: D Skelton

15/2

Fair bumper winner who shaped as if better for the run. sent hurdling after lengthy absence, when third of 12 in novice (12/1) at Southwell (20.4f, good) last month. Entitled to improve with tongue strap applied.

Form: 196/3

Teeceethree^t²⁹

Age: 5| Weight: 10-11| J: G Sheehan| T: Jamie Snowden| OR: 93

3/1

Warwick bumper winner who has run creditably in both starts over hurdles, latest when second of 11 in novice at this course (16f, good, 11/1) 29 days ago. Worth a crack at this longer trip and is one for shortlist.

Form: 41-22

Non-Runners

Oval Street¹³

Weight: 11-4| Age: 7

T: Mark Gillard J: Theo Gillard

Forecasts

Seinesational (9/4), Teeceethree (3/1), Woodie Flash (5/1), Clapton Hill (11/2), Presenting Nelly (15/2), Craven Bay (9/1), Oval Street (20/1), Flying Standard (22/1), Carpe Diem (22/1), Ruby's Comet (150/1), Hedgehopper (200/1)

Preference is for CLAPTON HILL, who got back on track at Newton Abbot earlier this month and hails from a yard in fine form. Seinesational and Teeceethree look the likeliest dangers.
