Soldier's Call colt who was getting the hang of things late on and ultimately shaped with promise when third in a Haydock novice (5f) 2 weeks ago, staying on final 1f. Likely to improve and a big player here.

Oasis Dream gelding. Dam, 2-y-o 1m winner. Better for debut without threatening when sixth in 7-runner York maiden (6f) 11 days ago and a likely type for nurseries in due course.

Displayed only greenness when last of 9 on debut at Pontefract in May. Gelded after and shaped as if still in need of the experience when fifth in 8-runner Hamilton novice (5f) 7 days ago. Another who will be better suited to nurseries.

Foaled March 14. €30,000 yearling, Due Diligence gelding. Half-brother to 6f winner Kebek Khan. Dam lightly-raced half-sister to smart winner up to 6f Lesson In Humility. Worth monitoring in the betting for clues ahead of debut.

Son of Havana Grey who did better with debut under his belt when fourth of 11 in novice event at Thirsk (5f) in May, leading until 1f out and no extra final 50 yds. Gelded subsequently and no surprise to see him progress. One to consider.

£32,000 yearling, Havana Grey colt. 14/1, well held tenth of 14 in maiden at Thirsk (6f, good) on debut 23 days ago, weakening under 2f out. Needs to step up a good deal if he's to figure here.

Lightning Spear half-brother to 2-y-o 5f winner Beechwood Donna. Hinted at ability on debut at Ripon and took a step forward when fifth of 9 in novice event here (5.8f) 4 weeks ago. Probably one for nurseries moving forward.

7/1
Fair filly who produced best effort to date when runner-up in 5-runner Hamilton novice (6f) on penultimate start. Probably overdid things from the front when fifth over 5.8f here 9 days ago but return to the minimum trip will suit. Cheekpieces go on.

Forecasts

All Is Fair (1/1), Lochaber (10/3), Chumbaa (7/1), Due For Luck (9/1), Keep Warm (14/1), Eternal Fortune (16/1), Macarone (20/1), Stash The Cash (28/1), Dc Flyer (66/1)

Verdict

ALL IS FAIR was clearly learning as the race wore on when third in a Haydock novice on debut 2 weeks ago. He can do better and earns the vote. Lochaber rates a danger, whilst Chumbaa, who boasts plenty of experience, could give a good account on the front end in first-time cheekpieces back over 5f.
