The Cathal Don³⁹

Age: 7| Weight: 12-0| J: J M Quinlan| T: S Pearce| OR: 102| D

5/2

Maiden chase winner in Ireland but below that level for Seamus Mullins subsequently in 2021/22. However, after 11 months off he fared better on debut for Richard Bandey when runner-up at Plumpton in February. Lurks on a dangerous mark starting off for new stable.

Form: P4P/24-4

Jet Of Dreams^t³⁵

Age: 5| Weight: 11-7| J: Dylan Kitts⁽⁷⁾| T: W Greatrex| OR: 95

4/1

Won his only start in points easily and has shown promise in 4 starts over hurdles so far, again not knocked about when fifth of 8 in novice at Ffos Las last month. Capable of better now making his handicap debut over fences. Major player.

Form: 507-425

Getaway Jewel⁴¹

Age: 9| Weight: 11-4| J: B S Hughes| T: Micky Hammond| OR: 92

3/1

Landed a Market Rasen double (both 17.2f) under Brian Hughes last summer and, reunited with Hughes, back to form when runner-up at Newcastle last time. Remains 3 lb below his last winning mark so he's not taken lightly.

Form: 74357-2

Punches Cross¹⁷⁷

Age: 10| Weight: 11-1| J: R P McLernon| T: J & A O'Neill| OR: 89| D

17/2

Useful handicap chaser at best for Joseph Patrick O'Brien but form has gone the wrong way for his current trainer, off 19 months prior to showing little in 3 starts in 2022/23. Best watched on return.

Form: P54/4P7-

Uncle O^t²²

Age: 9| Weight: 10-2| J: Benjamin Poste| T: C Hobson| OR: 74

16/5

Placed off slightly higher marks last season and runner-up on his return at Fakenham at the beginning of the month, though not always fluent with his jumping. Capable of getting involved, but may just remain remain vulnerable for win purposes.

Form: 23333-2

Forecasts

The Cathal Don (5/2), Getaway Jewel (3/1), Uncle O (16/5), Jet Of Dreams (4/1), Punches Cross (17/2)

Successful on his sole outing in Irish points, JET OF DREAMS showed promise in 4 starts over hurdles and he remains with potential now sent handicapping on his chase debut. The 5-y-o is taken to open his account under Rules, though Getaway Jewel isn't taken lightly having returned to form under Brian Hughes last time. The Cathal Don is the pick of the remainder.
