Couple of good efforts for this yard over a year ago but is an awkward maiden and may well need this after 13 months off.

Back on track when second in handicap chase at this C&D, despite going in snatches. Did too much too soon in first-time headgear back here next time, though the fact he went like the best horse at the weights for most of the way suggests he's well worth another chance.

Failed to show a great deal of spark after returning from a lengthy absence in November but attracted support and duly turned in his best effort for some time when runner-up in handicap hurdle at Kelso 2 weeks ago. Player if building on that back over fences.

Maiden hurdler but has taken well to chasing, opening his account at the fourth attempt with headgear refitted at Chepstow (26.2f, good, 6/1) before following up in convincing fashion at Huntingdon 12 days ago. Should make a bold bid for the hat-trick.

Winning pointer and successful twice over hurdles (both at 23.3f) here last year. Below par last 2 starts 10 months apart, including on chase bow here 17 days ago, but clearly better than that.

Poor maiden handicap hurdler and not an obvious chasing type on looks.

Lightly-raced maiden hurdler. Showed aptitude for chasing when fourth in 10-runner Ayr handicap (16.5f) but reported to have bled next 2 starts. Risky.

Made frame both starts in Irish points but he's offered very little in 4 hurdle starts this winter. 4 lb out of the weights ahead of chase bow.

Forecasts

Doyens De Ante (9/4), Jimmy Rabbitte (10/3), Trevelyn's Corn (9/2), Derracrin (13/2), Zihuatanejo (8/1), West Lawn (9/1), Hapy La Vie (11/1), Bulldoze (40/1)

Verdict

DOYENS DE ANTE has made an encouraging start to his chasing career and the manner of his win at Huntingdon suggests a hat-trick is on the cards. Trevelyn's Corn was lit up by first-time headgear over C&D last time but he's capable of defying his current mark if things go his way, while Jimmy Rabbitte was a back-to-form second over hurdles at Kelso 2 weeks ago.
