Off the mark in points at second attempt last spring but will need to step up markedly on what he's shown in a trio of maiden hudles in order to play a leading role on this handicap debut.

Yet to get his head in front but hit the crossbar 4 times last season and did so once again when chasing home one who benefited from an enterprising ride at Taunton (19f) recently. Drop back in trip no bad thing and should make his presence felt.

Winless following 16 attempts under Rules but almost certainly would've opened his account but for unseating at the second-last at Huntingdon (15.8f) recently. Good chance he will gain compensation here, granted a clear round.

Showed ability on first starts over hurdles but latest effort at Taunton wasn't overly inspiring and needs to raise his game now pitched into a handicap.

Pulled up in 2 chases in the autumn and the outcome was the same returned to this sphere at Wincanton last time. Since undergone a wind op and needs to bounce back in a major way.

Fairly useful maiden on Flat for Richard Hannon and improved when third of 17 on handicap debut in this sphere at Doncaster in January. Proved something of a let-down at Taunton (19f) since but worth another chance back down in trip here.

Fairly useful bumper winner who was placed on his first 2 starts over hurdles last season. However, he resumes here with a bit to prove having performed poorly at Plumpton when last seen 10 months ago.

Hinted at promise on hurdling bow over C&D in November (fell last) and back on track when landing a 5-runner novice back here a fortnight ago. That wasn't much of a race but mark for this handicap debut looks fair and he's one to consider.

Showed fair form when making the frame first 2 starts over hurdles during 2021/22 campaign but he has struggled since venturing down the handicap route.

Runner-up on second of 2 starts in Irish points and, though yet to trouble the judge in a trio of appearances over hurdles, he's one to note in the betting now handicapping off a lowly opening mark.

Modest at best on the Flat and, while he showed something in juvenile hurdles last season, his recent efforts have been uninspiring.

Found only one too good from out of the weights at Fontwell in December. Below par both subsequent starts and now 0-9 over hurdles but certainly capable of a bold show off this reduced mark.

Forecasts

Clay (3/1), Port Or Starboard (6/1), Wells Glory (6/1), Mutual Respect (13/2), Watchoutitscookie (7/1), Gorcombe Moonshine (9/1), Prince Rhinegold (10/1), Looking For Larry (12/1), Ballygoe (12/1), Talimar Pearl (16/1), Jacks Orchard (20/1), Girandole (22/1), Flamenco De Kerser (28/1), Presgrave (33/1), Army Of One (33/1), Tally's Son (150/1)

Verdict

Though he needs to brush up on his jumping, MUTUAL RESPECT is clearly up to winning off this sort of mark judged on his latest effort at Huntingdon (probably would've won had he not unseated rider 2 out). He gets the nod ahead of Clay, who should appreciate returning to this trip after finding 19f too much of a test at Taunton. Recent C&D scorer Prince Rhinegold and Port Or Starboard are other likely players, while Jacks Orchard is worth a second look in the betting.
