Failed to measure up to expectations on chase/seasonal debut but back on track returned to hurdles when edging out a subsequent dual winner here (17.7f). Pulled up in Lanzarote next time but not disgraced back over fences at Kempton 16 days ago. 3 lb lower now and cheekpieces go on.

Irish point/dual hurdles winner who, on back of a wind op has made a bright start over fences, off the mark at third attempt in 5-runner mares' handicap at Bangor (20.3f) 16 days ago. 4 lb higher mark to defy here but unlikely she's reached her limit just yet.

£200,000 Irish point winner who improved with each outing over hurdles, off the mark in a Taunton novice (19f) during spring 2021. Easy to back but made light of lengthy absence to make winning handicap chase bow at Wetherby (19.4f) in December. One to be interested in again.

Dual hurdles winner at around 2m who is a rangy chasing type but didn't jump well enough to make an impact on his debut over fences at Kempton (18f) 16 days ago. Needs to leave that behind but it remains early days.

Verdict

GRANDADS COTTAGE made light of a lengthy absence and was arguably deserving of extra credit as he overcame a patient ride (in a slowly-run race) and a late mistake to score on chase debut at Wetherby over Christmas. Very much the type to do better, he gets the nod to come out on top again, with Bangor scorer Fable fancied to give him most to think about.
