IEP Financial Novices' Handicap Chase

Off time: 14:07 | Winning time: 4m 18.80s

Sherborne^p²²

Age: 7| Weight: 12-1| J: Brendan Powell| T: J Tizzard| OR: 101

13/2

Hurdles winner who lost his way in that discipline and little encouragement tried chasing this term. Others make more appeal.

Form: 188U-P4

Hector Jaguen¹⁷

Age: 6| Weight: 11-13| J: J E Moore| T: G & J Moore| OR: 99

13/2

Showed clear ability on 2 of his 3 qualifying runs but was easy to back and offered little off a stiff-looking mark on handicap hurdle bow at Huntingdon. Goes chasing now (maiden Irish pointer).

Form: 52-6P40

Doyannie^t⁸⁵

Age: 9| Weight: 11-4| J: Rex Dingle| T: A J Honeyball| OR: 90| BF

9/2

Maiden hurdler who was all the better for chase bow/return when second at Exeter (19.2f, soft) a year ago. Similar form when third next time but poor effort final start for Jack Barber and disappointed at Ffos Las on return for new yard. Down another 3 lb so could be worth another chance.

Form: 3/4233-7

Shaw's Cross²⁶

Age: 11| Weight: 10-11| J: Nick Scholfield| T: P Henderson| OR: 83| BF

9/4

Continues in good form, splitting a handicap blot and next-time-out winner here last month before a fair run from a poor position at Hereford. One to consider.

Form: 24-2224

Heron Creek^p1¹⁴

Age: 6| Weight: 10-8| J: Lee Edwards| T: Dr R D P Newland| OR: 80

8/1

Made a winning handicap hurdle debut at Chepstow in April but out of sorts this season, tried over fences last 2 starts. Headgear applied.

Form: 3-PU95P

Clondaw Robin^p²⁸

Age: 10| Weight: 10-2| J: James Davies| T: A Irvine| OR: 70

12/1

Yet to score over fences but placed again from out of the weights here 28 days ago.

Form: 33F/043

Rocambolas^t²³

Age: 6| Weight: 10-2| J: Craig Nichol| T: O Greenall & J Guerriero| OR: 70

9/2

Winning pointer who showed first sign of encouragement under Rules when fourth at Newcastle on chase debut, finding little after travelling strongly. This drop in trip should suit and not taken lightly despite being 4 lb out of the handicap.

Form: 1U-PP94

Nyoufsea¹⁰²

Age: 8| Weight: 10-2| J: James Best| T: A Sadik| OR: 69

80/1

Poor maiden who is easy to oppose from out of the handicap.

Form: P-P35P3

Forecasts

Shaw's Cross (9/4), Doyannie (9/2), Rocambolas (9/2), Hector Jaguen (13/2), Sherborne (13/2), Heron Creek (8/1), Clondaw Robin (12/1), Nyoufsea (80/1)

DOYANNIE failed to justify support on her return/yard debut at Ffos Las in November, but she could be worth another chance in what looks a thin handicap. Shaw's Cross looks a solid alternative, while claims can also be made for Rocambolas despite being out of the handicap.
