Took 4 attempts to get off the mark in points but opened his account at the first time of asking under Rules in 8-runner maiden at Ffos Las (20f) 48 days ago, staying on to lead soon after last. Step up in trip will suit and he's sure to improve.

Schiaparelli gelding. Brother to 2 winners, including bumper winner/fair hurdler Betty Baloo. Off mark in points at third attempt but looked one for later on when well held on last month's hurdling/Rules debut at Wetherby.

Fared best of the newcomers when runner-up in a 19.3f Thurles bumper (for John Joseph Hanlon) in January 2021, albeit no match for winner. Filled same spot on sole outing in points later that year and is worth a market check now making a belated hurdling debut.

Won sole start in Irish points and offered something to work on sent hurdling when third in a messy affair at Kelso (22.7f) in November, staying on run-in. Went backwards at Haydock next time but is probably better judged on his Kelso run.

Timeform
Little solid form in bumpers/novice hurdles and on the Flat. Easily passed over.

Forecasts

Broomfield Present (5/6), Captain Westie (2/1), No But I Will (11/2), Benny Baloo (18/1), Isla Diamonds (200/1)

Verdict

BROOMFIELD PRESENT stayed on well to make a successful start under Rules at Ffos Las in November and, with this longer trip sure to suit, this looks an excellent opportunity for him to defy a penalty. Captain Westie is presumably not the easiest to train but is preferred to No But I Will for the forecast spot, who was a little disappointing at Haydock given his debut promise.
