Fairly useful in bumpers (winner on debut) but has failed to meet expectations on both starts over hurdles, including upped in trip last time. Clearly thought capable of better and maybe first-time cheekpieces will unlock some improvement.

Hinted at ability in bumpers and made an encouraging debut in this sphere in a first-time hood after 5 months off when third at Bangor (19.6f) in September. Went backwards at Stratford next time but was still in need of the experience. Back from short break.

Mahler mare. Placed both starts in Irish points in November 2020 but offered little in a Chepstow maiden hurdle 2 years on. Tongue strap on for 1st time.

Showed fair form when reaching the frame in a couple of bumpers and ran to a similar level sent hurdling when fifth at Ffos Las (15.8f) in October. Failed to improve for the step up in trip at Leicester subsequently but it remains early days.

Gentlewave mare. Half-sister to numerous winners, including smart hurdler Attaglance, stayed 3m, and useful hurdler/chase winner Hi George. Dam (h68) bumper winner. Makes plenty of appeal on paper.

100/1, last of 7 in novice hurdle at Uttoxeter (15.8f, good to soft) on NH debut 53 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Hooded for 1st time.

Never dangerous in 2 bumpers and well held on recent hurdling debut at Wincanton. Significantly up in trip.

€1,500 3-y-o, £32,000 4-y-o, Valirann mare. Dam unraced. Held when fell last sole start in Irish points (Apr 2021). Yard still struggling for winners but requires a market check all the same.

Doyen mare. Half-sister to bumper winner Barranco. Dam unraced half-sister to useful hurdler/smart chaser (stayed 3½m) Cannington Brook. Made frame both completed starts in points, runner-up last time (Nov 20). Market likely to be informative.

Timeform
Finished third on her sole start in points in March 2021 but offered little on her belated Rules debut at Ludlow 15 days ago. Hood left off this time.

Forecasts

Fairy Gem (6/5), Kraqueline (5/2), Don't Rightly Know (11/4), Presenting Doyen (13/2), Lillywave (11/1), The Eminent Goose (16/1), Gamesters Girl (16/1), Presenting Belle (18/1), Inchagoill Lady (50/1), Drumlees Pet (100/1), Palmagreen (150/1), Mighty Mississippi (250/1)

Verdict

DON'T RIGHTLY KNOW is clearly not the easiest to train but a reproduction of her Uttoxeter second could be enough to take this. Lillywave is an appealing debutante and warrants respect, while Fairy Gem shouldn't be written off now fitted with first-time cheekpieces.
