Newt Mid Season Handicap Chase

Quickly made up into a fairly useful chaser last winter, winning twice, and shaped better than the distance beaten when fourth in Doncaster handicap (19.1f, good) on return last month. Interesting contender.

Made a winning start over fences at Ludlow (20.1f) in October of last year. Not seen again until fourth of 6 at Kempton (18f, good) 71 days ago and others more convincing.

Has fine record over fences, winning first 4 starts and running creditably in defeat the last twice, latest when 4½ lengths second of 6 to Midnight Midge in handicap at Taunton (18.2f, good to soft) 18 days ago. Should give another good account.

2-2 for new yard, latest a 6-runner handicap chase at Taunton (18.2f, good to soft, 2/1) 18 days ago by 4½ lengths from Huelgoat, driven out. However, several fences were omitted on that occasion and his jumping will be more severely tested here.

Suited by the step up to this sort of trip when scoring with something to spare over hurdles at Lingfield in January. Not gone on since though, falling on return/chase debut and offering little once headed at Exeter last month.

All 3 career wins have come over fences at this course, the latest over 25f in February. Kept on well when third of 11 in Exeter handicap (19.2f) latest and is one for the shortlist.

Got off the mark over fences with a career best in 9-runner handicap at Exeter (19.2f, heavy) in March. Disappointed both starts since, though, and plenty to prove now.

Winning hurdler who posted promising third of 8 in handicap at Kempton (20.5f, good to soft, 25/1) on debut over fences 49 days ago. Likely more to come yet.

Possibly amiss when pulled up in handicap hurdle at Cheltenham in October. Tries chasing now but clearly comes with risks attached at present.

Confirmed previous promise when off the mark in handicap at Exeter (18.5f) in February. However, virtually refused to race on chase bow at Chepstow in October and didn't look particularly enthusiastic back at Exeter latest.

Left reappearance effort behind when creditable third of 11 in handicap chase at Uttoxeter (20.9f, soft) 20 days ago, conceding first run. 1 lb lower now and holds solid claims.

Returned to form from out of the blue sent chasing and was pretty impressive to boot as he easily won amateurs' handicap over C&D earlier this month. Not in same form when third at Fontwell 5 days later and overall profile is not convincing.
