Took a while to get off the mark over fences but it all clicked during the spring with back-to-back Sedgefield wins in May. However, limitations seemingly exposed since and he looks vulnerable conceding weight all round here.

Won three on the bounce over hurdles last winter and has taken to well to this sphere, landing handicap chases at Hexham and Ludlow (both at around 2m) the last twice. High on the list with the possibility of better to come.

Successful sole bumper start and on his first 2 completed starts over hurdles. Ran no so sort of a race in a Kempton Grade 2 when last seen in February but pitched into calmer waters for this chase/handicap debut and he'll be a threat if his jumping passes the test.

Responded well to the first-time hood when opening hurdles account in Fontwell novice (17.7f, good to soft) for Chris Gordon on final start of last season. That form is decent (the second has won twice since) but more is needed now switched to fences for new yard.

Verdict

MINELLA PLUS completed a hurdles hat-trick in the first half of last season and is taken to repeat that feat in this sphere following victories at Hexham and Ludlow. The 5-y-o gets the nod ahead of another promising novice in Zacony Rebel, who did the job well starting out over fences at Fontwell and should have more to offer. Moriko de Vassy will need to improve on what he showed over hurdles in order to make a successful chase debut but he is respected all the same.
