Useful hurdler/chaser who recorded plenty of good efforts last season without managing to get his head in front. Well capable off this sort of mark if ready to roll on his reappearance.

Dual novice chase winner in 2020/21, including C&D. Last season never really got going but his mark has edged down as a result and there's still plenty of time for this 8-y-o to make his mark in handicaps.

Pair of 3m handicap chase wins this summer. Respectable fourth over hurdles at Downpatrick in August. Has the potential for better again over fences but the shorter trip is a slight concern.

Progressed very well over fences in 2020/21, winning twice before fourth in Scottish Grand National here. Didn't go on as hoped last season but does start the new campaign on a workable mark.

Forecasts

Elvis Mail (9/4), Marown (5/2), Readysteadybeau (9/2), Getaway Goldie (9/2), Buster Valentine (11/1), The Ferry Master (12/1)

Verdict

A trappy little contest in which a chance is taken on the fitness of ELVIS MAIL as he is a potential class act here, particularly with Bruce Lynn taking 5 lb off his back. Marown is on a bit of a retrieval mission but he's been cut some slack by the handicapper and may provide the chief threat ahead of Getaway Goldie, who has done very well in 3m chases this season but does need to prove she's as effective over this shorter distance.
