Landed his first two starts in bumpers comfortably, before being pulled up in the Champion Bumper. Had to carry a double penalty when fourth of 8 at Ayr when last seen 6 months ago. Interesting contender on hurdles bow.

Brother to very smart chaser Captain Guinness. Won an Irish point and made encouraging start over hurdles when second at Haydock (15.6f) in December. Bled when not in same form at Huntingdon next time. Could do better after 8 months off.

Maiden Irish pointer who failed to beat a rival in pair of bumpers for Paul Robson. Off 6 months ahead of hurdles debut.

Ran to a fair level first time out when fifth of 25 in novice hurdle at Navan (15.8f) in February. First run for yard after leaving Stuart Crawford. Should improve with Brian Hughes on board for return.

£35,000 5-y-o, Creachadoir gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners, including fairly useful hurdler Bilko and 17f-19f chase winner in France Volcaldoune. Dam 1½m winner on Flat in France. Off mark in Irish points at fourth attempt. Yard going well.

Showed more than on debut when third of 9 in bumper at Newcastle in March. Off 7 months. Makes hurdles bow with tongue strap on for 1st time. Bred to be suited by further in time.

£60,000 5-y-o, Jet Away gelding. Dam unraced. Made the frame all 3 starts in Irish points. Watch for market clues.

Some encouragement when fourth of 6 in bumper at Punchestown (20f) on debut and probably needed the run on stable debut 10 months later. Off further 9 months ahead of hurdles bow.

Failed to beat a rival at Doncaster on debut but, in a hood, seemingly stepped up on that effort when third of 7 in bumper here in February. Goes hurdling after 8 months off. Bred to need more time.

Never a threat when fifth of 6 in novice hurdle (14/1) at this C&D on debut 20 days ago. Makes little appeal.

Unplaced sole outing in points. Ninth of 14 in novice hurdle at Downpatrick (18.8f) on Rules debut 15 days ago. Looks one for the longer term.

Poor in bumpers and fared no better when last of 5 in novice hurdle at Hexham (20.1f) on hurdles bow. Off 6 months.

From a successful family but little short-term promise in 2 bumpers earlier this year. Now switches to hurdles after 6 months off.

Forecasts

Captain Broomfield (5/2), Call Me Harry (5/2), Snake Roll (4/1), Hashtag Lord (5/1), Ninetofive (9/1), Heros De Moutiers (11/1), Take Centre Stage (50/1), Franz Josef (80/1), Size Five (100/1), Paper Tiger (150/1), Bolt Man (150/1), Kauto Of Gold (200/1), Melchoir (200/1), Tangiers (200/1)

Verdict

Well-bred type CAPTAIN BROOMFIELD made an encouraging start over hurdles when runner-up at Haydock in December and, having had an excuse for his next outing, can get back on track on his return to action. Dual-bumper winner Call Me Harry could be the main danger on his hurdles debut, with Hashtag Lord completing the shortlist.
