Improved into a very smart front-running chaser last season when a dual winner here and also fourth in the Grand Annual at the Festival. Yard going well so he needs considering on his return.

Clear The Runway⁴⁰

11/4

Highly progressive front-running hurdler/chaser who completed a 5-timer in 2m handicap chase at Worcester last month. Has still more to offer so is not taken lightly despite another 7 lb rise in the weights.

Form: 21-1111

The Widdow Maker^h,t¹⁹⁸

Age: 8| Weight: 11-1| J: Brendan Powell| T: J Tizzard| OR: 140| D

6/1

Useful hurdler who has taken his form up a notch since sent chasing, scoring at Exeter and posting good third in Aintree Grade 1 in April. Has scope for further progress over fences. Well in the mix.

Form: 156123-

Poseidon⁸⁷

Age: 8| Weight: 11-0| J: Jack Kennedy| T: G Elliott| OR: 139| D

17/2

Useful Irish hurdler who matched that form in this sphere when getting off the mark at Cork last October. Well held back hurdling at Galway on his final run for Charles Byrnes in July and no surprise to see him take a step forward for his new yard here.

Form: 1PU5P6-

El Borracho^t¹⁰

Age: 7| Weight: 10-11| J: Toby Wynne⁽⁷⁾| T: O Greenall & J Guerriero| OR: 136| D

17/2

Likeable sort who completed his hat-trick in 3-runner handicap chase at Wetherby (15.2f) 10 days ago. This is tougher but he can't be dismissed.

Form: 128111

Dads Lad^t²⁹

Age: 7| Weight: 10-10| J: Brian Hayes| T: W P Mullins| OR: 135| BF| D

7/2

Has got his career right back on track since sent chasing and landed 2m1f handicap at Killarney in August in great style. Not discredited back hurdling when fifth at Listowel last time and he's a player.

Form: 0-05115

Effernock Fizz^p,t¹³

Age: 7| Weight: 10-8| J: Sam Ewing| T: C Collins| OR: 133| D

6/1

Very useful front-running hurdler who showed a good attitude when making all in 2m handicap at Ffos Las 13 days ago. Yet to score over fences though so this demands more.

Form: 431721

Forecasts

Clear The Runway (11/4), Dads Lad (7/2), Effernock Fizz (6/1), Editeur Du Gite (6/1), The Widdow Maker (6/1), El Borracho (17/2), Poseidon (17/2)

None of these can be ruled out but a very strong pace looks on the cards which should suit Willie Mullins' improving young chaser DADS LAD who made it 2-3 over fences in great style at Killarney and can claim his biggest prize yet. Editeur du Gite and Clear The Runway have more to offer too and are greatly respected, with Effernock Fizz and El Borracho also likely to get involved in the pace setting.
