By no means disgraced in quality handicaps subsequent to Goodwood maiden (1¼m, good) success in June, and he will be a threat if the first-time cheekpieces help eke out a bit more.

Useful form when wide-margin winner of a handicap at Southwell in July. This is a far more realistic assignment than that which she faced in the St Leger here on her turf debut and she has to enter calculations.

Off the mark in a Salisbury handicap (1½m, good to firm) for Roger Varian in June, and improved when making a winning start for new connections back at this trip at Nottingham (heavy) recently. 8 lb rise tolerable and he's a big player.

Off the mark in a 9-runner maiden at Ffos Las (1¼m, good) in August but subsequent handicap debut display at Kempton was rather underwhelming.

Chester nursery winner off this mark last season and didn't shape at all badly on belated return over 7f here. Failed to step up on that at Haydock (1m, heavy) next time, though, and more needed now upped in trip.

Built on debut promise when emerging on top in a 10-runner novice at Windsor (1¼m, good to firm) in May. Shade disappointing tried in a hood (discarded here) back from a break on the AW at Lingfield and needs to get back on track now pitched into a handicap.

Strong at the finish in a Beverley novice (1¼m, good to soft) last month and not disgraced when third in a first-time hood at Ripon next time. Opening mark looks fair but improvement is needed.

Off the mark in a strong race for the grade at Haydock (10.2f, good to firm) in May. Again performed well over that C&D on penultimate start but needs to bounce back following a tame effort at Redcar.

Forecasts

First Officer (6/4), Unspoken (9/2), Frankendael (6/1), Knight Of Honour (13/2), Lizzie Jean (8/1), Polyphonic (10/1), Rich King (12/1), Dubai Leader (18/1), Tuxedo Junction (20/1)

Verdict

FIRST OFFICER took a big step forward when scoring in good style from the front on debut for present connections at Nottingham. He appears to be versatile ground-wise and an 8 lb rise in the weights may not be enough to prevent him from going in again with William Buick aboard. Lizzie Jean was flying too high in the St Leger but she has to be feared back in handicap company. Knight of Honour also enters calculations.
