140,000 gns yearling, Lope De Vega colt. Fared best of the newcomers when third on debut at Newcastle (7f) and ran to a similar level when midfield in 12-runner Kempton novice (7f) 7 weeks ago. Type to do better in handicaps.

Gleneagles gelding who was easy to back but produced promising first effort amidst inexperience when sixth in 12-runner Salisbury novice (7f) 3 weeks ago, staying on and finishing with running left. Looks sure to improve.

Foaled March 20. Holy Roman Emperor gelding. Stepped up on debut effort despite only beating one home when sixth of 7 in maiden at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 22 days ago, weakening final 1f. Another likely type for handicaps in due course.

Lightly-raced colt who matched previous best without looking the easiest of rides when finishing close-up third in 4-runner nursery (8.3f) at Nottingham back in August. Absent since.

Havana Grey colt. Not seen to best effect on debut back in June but much improved when runner-up back from 4 months off at Salisbury (7f), every chance after 2f out and running on. A repeat gives him sound claims here.

Foaled April 4. Frankel colt. Closely related to 2-y-o 7f winner Berengaria and smart winner up to 16.6f Mildenberger. Dam 1½m-2m winner. Makes obvious appeal on paper and worth noting if market vibes are strong.

Foaled March 28. Kuroshio colt. Displayed a fair bit of encouragement when staying on gradually for fourth in 12-runner Southwell maiden (7f) 17 days ago. Entitled to build on that now.

Foaled April 19. 100,000 gns yearling, New Bay colt. Half-brother to 3 winners, including winner up to 7f Bath And Tennis and 6f-1m winner Big Amigo. Dam French maiden. Yard enjoyed a fine campaign with their juveniles so he's another to note for positive vibes.

Foaled January 11. 110,000 gns yearling, Showcasing gelding. Last of 10 in novice event at Newbury (6f, good to firm) on debut in July, running green and labouring over 2f out. Given a break since and this should reveal more.

Foaled February 18. Kingman filly. Half-sister to 2-y-o 6f winner Credible. Sent off at 8/11 and looked unlucky not to reward support when head second on debut at Haydock (7f) in May. Absent since but highly likely she can build on that.

Forecasts

Havana Blue (15/8), Satirical (4/1), Maltese Falcon (4/1), Florida (7/1), Come Together (8/1), Inspiritus (10/1), Overrule (11/1), Ezaj (14/1), Hosanna Power (16/1), Legend Of Leros (28/1), Mighty River (28/1), Al Motasim (28/1), Bauhinia Rhapsody (50/1), Stage Show (80/1), Noble Captain (100/1), Malinheadsearovers (100/1), Kerpow (200/1), Emperor Zen (250/1), Urban Champion (250/1)

Verdict

HAVANA BLUE showed the benefit of his debut and made a much better fist of things 4 months on when runner-up in a Salisbury novice over this trip 3 weeks ago. A repeat should see him play a lead role once more under William Buick. Satirical has been absent since the spring but her debut effort contained plenty of promise and she's feared along with Maltese Falcon. Overrule and Inspiritus are just a couple of the newcomers to note.
