Opened his account at the thirteenth attempt as a hurdler in 6-runner Kelso novice (16.2f) 18 days ago, but that was a decidedly ordinary affair.

Picked up for £80,000 after finishing second in a point. Failed to match market expectations on bumper debut in January but a bit more like it at Wetherby 2 months later. Sure to relish this step up in trip now tackling obstacles.

Kayf Tara gelding who left a limp debut miles behind tried tongue tied following a breathing op when forging clear to land a Worcester bumper by 15 lengths in June. Interesting recruit to hurdling.

£80,000 5-y-o, Yeats gelding. Brother to a winner, and closely related to 3 winners, including useful hurdler/very smart chaser Master of The Hall. Dam unraced. Readily off mark in Irish points at second attempt (Mar 26). Tongue tied for Rules debut and must enter calculations.

Fair form in bumpers. Let down by jumping in maiden/novice hurdles, though showed up well for long way at Fontwell last time. Sold out of Warren Greatrex's yard for £11,000 gns in May.

Placed on first of 2 starts in bumpers but has been held back by his attitude since, including on Ayr hurdling debut when last seen 10 months ago.

Won his sole start in Irish points and also successful both outings in bumpers at this venue last season, looking a strong stayer. Seems sure to win more races over hurdles.

£6,000 4-y-o, Presenting gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser (stayed 29f) Sugar Baron (by Presenting). Maiden Irish pointer, last of 9 finishers latest outing (May 1). Probably best watched unless the market suggests otherwise.

Went backwards from hurdling debut when sixth in an 8-runner novice at Hexham (16.2f, good to soft) in April. Back up in trip.

Offered little sole start in bumpers and fared no better tried hurdling after 22 months off at Perth recently.

Maximilian (11/10), Get Up Mush (2/1), Harjo (5/1), Cedar Row (5/1), Densworth (8/1), Carlo Du Berlais (25/1), Balkalin (33/1), Hattons Gardens (33/1), Kicksaftersix (100/1), Wandering West (125/1), Call Him Now (150/1), Master Of The Malt (150/1), Solway Primrose (400/1)

Verdict

MAXIMILIAN was strong at the finish when winning both his bumper starts at this venue last season, so seems sure to relish this longer trip now hurdling and can extend his unbeaten record to 4. Get Up Mush has joined a top outfit after finishing third on his sole outing in Irish points, so must be respected, along with wide-margin bumper winner Densworth.
