Pertemps RGB Novices' Hurdle (GBB Race)

Off time: 15:29 | Winning time: 3m 59.78s

Alnitak²⁹¹

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: David Bass| T: K Bailey & M Nicholls

17/2

Ran to only a modest level when seventh of 17 in 2m Warwick bumper on debut last December. Possibly best watched now hurdling unless the betting suggests otherwise.

Form: 7-

Just Deegeeteebee²⁴⁹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-0| J: C Brace| T: F O'Brien

33/1

No more than hinted at ability in 3 bumpers for Dai Burchell last season but has switched to a leading yard ahead of hurdle debut so need a precautionary betting check.

Form: 500-

Of Corse I Can⁷⁸

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: N P Mulholland

25/1

Runner-up in a point and promising start over hurdles when second of 6 in novice at Ffos Las in June. Disappointing at Stratford since but it's still early days.

Form: P462-28

Robert Walpole^t1¹²¹

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton

10/11

Fairly useful handicapper on Flat (stays 1½m). Tongue tied first time now hurdling for new trainer Dan Skelton. The one to beat if taking to this new discipline.

Form:

Sea The Clouds²³

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: G Sheehan| T: Jamie Snowden

10/3

Fair bumper performer, placed 3 times before landing short odds in a small field at Stratford 23 days ago. Should be up to making his presence felt in a race like this now hurdling.

Form: 232-1

Star Of Valour^t²⁷

Age: 7| Weight: 11-0| J: Brendan Powell| T: J Tizzard| BF

5/1

Fair on Flat. Held back by inexperience when modest third on his 18.5f course hurdle debut last month. Likely to do better.

Form: 3

Universal Secret¹⁹⁹

Age: 5| Weight: 11-0| J: J E Moore| T: Mrs H R J Nelmes| OR: 99

14/1

Fair maiden hurdler. Twice placed in similar events at the beginning of the year but vulnerable to anything with potential on this return from a 6-month break.

Form: 960325-

Mountain Grey¹⁸⁵

Age: 4| Weight: 10-12| J: Daniel Sansom⁽³⁾| T: J W Mullins

80/1

Modest form at best in bumpers so doesn't strike as an obvious one to make a winning hurdle debut.

Form: 657-

Watchoutitscookie²⁷

Age: 4| Weight: 10-12| J: Tom Buckley⁽³⁾| T: N J Hawke

200/1

Well beaten in a bumper and 2 maiden hurdles. Likely booked for another struggle.

Form: 9-86

Time To Burn^h,t¹⁴

Age: 4| Weight: 10-5| J: David Noonan| T: N J Hawke

250/1

Modest maiden on Flat. Tailed off on his completed start in maiden/novice hurdles in recent weeks.

Form: UU0

Forecasts

Robert Walpole (10/11), Sea The Clouds (10/3), Star Of Valour (5/1), Alnitak (17/2), Universal Secret (14/1), Of Corse I Can (25/1), Just Deegeeteebee (33/1), Mountain Grey (80/1), Watchoutitscookie (200/1), Time To Burn (250/1)

Dan Skelton has done very well with Flat horses in the Gredley Family colours in recent seasons and ROBERT WALPOLE appeals as another who could win plenty of races if taking to hurdling. Recent Stratford bumper winner Sea The Clouds can follow him home ahead of Star of Valour.
