Golden Sands⁴⁷

Age: 3| Weight: 9-10| J: Jason Hart| T: C & M Johnston| OR: 76

12/1

Recorded third victory at Wolverhampton (8.6f) in May and matched that level when placed from 6 lb higher mark in handicaps at Goodwood/Chester in June. Below form more recently, sixth of 8 in handicap at Hamilton (8.3f) 47 days ago. Still, bounce back not ruled out.

End Zone²¹

Age: 5| Weight: 9-10| J: B A Curtis| T: R Fell & S Murray| OR: 71| D

6/1

Inconsistent profile overall but did shape best of those ridden close up when fifth in handicap at Carlisle (9f) 3 weeks ago. Has now fallen back down to last winning mark and this return to 1m rates a likely plus.

Form: 010545

Devilwala^p¹³

Age: 4| Weight: 9-9| J: O J Orr| T: T D Easterby| OR: 70

9/1

Eighteen runs since last win in 2020. Seventh of 9 in handicap (16/1) at Newcastle (7.1f) 13 days ago. Mark continues to ease but others arrive with more pressing claims.

Form: 007547

(5)

Eshtora⁹⁷

Age: 3| Weight: 9-8| J: Tom Marquand| T: S & E Crisford| OR: 74

15/2

Shamardal filly who justified support to make a winning debut in a Wolverhampton novice (8.6f) in April. Failed to beat a rival next 2 starts but did at least get back on track to an extent when fifth of 7 in handicap at Sandown (1m) in June. Given a break ahead of this.

Form: 1665

Motarajel^p¹⁶

Age: 5| Weight: 9-2| J: D Fentiman| T: T D Easterby| OR: 63| D

10/1

Latest win at Ripon (1m) in July. However, not scaled same heights on 2 of last 3 starts, last of 8 in handicap back at that venue 16 days ago. Must bounce back.

Form: 313738

(2)

Chinese Spirit¹⁶

Age: 8| Weight: 8-9| J: G Lee| T: Miss L A Perratt| OR: 56| BF| CD

18/1

C&D winner. 3 wins from 12 runs this year, the latest at Musselburgh (9f) in August. 9/4, last of 10 in handicap at Carlisle (7.8f, good to firm) 16 days ago. Others more persuasive.

Form: 544120

(7)

Mac Ailey^b¹⁵

Age: 6| Weight: 8-9| J: D Allan| T: T D Easterby| OR: 51| D

9/2

Two wins from 47 Flat runs. 11/2, creditable fourth of 11 in handicap at Hamilton (9.2f, good) 15 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Out of the weights and likely to find a few too good.

Forecasts

A Boy Named Ivy (7/4), Shimmering Sands (9/4), Mac Ailey (9/2), End Zone (6/1), Eshtora (15/2), Devilwala (9/1), Motarajel (10/1), Golden Sands (12/1), Chinese Spirit (18/1), Bashful (25/1)

SHIMMERING SANDS did well to overcome a pace bias and trouble-in-running as he made it 2 wins from his last 3 starts in handicaps at Leicester 4 weeks ago and, with the drop back in trip expected to hold no fears, he can make light of a 5 lb rise in the weights and come out on top again. The class dropping A Boy Named Ivy is also fancied to play a lead role, along with Golden Sands back from a short break.
