Won Zetland Gold Cup at Redcar in June and comfortable winner at Glorious Goodwood under Frankie Dettori. Well held both starts since but no surprise to see him fare better with Dettori back in the saddle.

Smart performer at his best but has been operating below that level so far this season. Mark continues to slide but others are still more convincing.

Made it 3-3 with the minimum of fuss in 1m Redcar handicap last October. Beaten favourite in 2 comeback outings in the spring (including Lincoln here) but could resume his progression after a break. Also tongue tied first time. Gets the vote.

Has failed to add to his trio of 1m handicaps wins in 2021 but there have been plenty of respectable efforts this term. Back on a favourable mark but whether this front-runner will benefit from the step up to 1¼m remains to be seen.

Superbly-bred colt who showed much-improved form when easily winning 1m Newmarket handicap on reappearance in April. However, he has been well beaten in Royal Hunt Cup and Glorious Goodwood handicap won by Forest Falcon since. Still lightly raced but he needs to resume his progression.

Very useful handicapper who recorded creditable efforts in competitive events on his first 4 starts this season and shaped as if still in good form when midfield at Glorious Goodwood 6 weeks ago. Should be thereabouts.

Just a maiden win on the dirt at Meydan to his name. Below par in a couple of outings there at the start of the year so returns from a 6-month break with a bit to prove.

Career best when winning 10-runner handicap at Newcastle (1¼m) in June. Caught too far back when fifth at Chelmsford since and treated as if still in form. One to consider.

Produced his best effort on the level when winning 11-runner handicap at Chester (1¼m, soft) in July but he was found out off an 8 lb higher mark in the Lanark Bell at Hamilton (1½m) since.

Fifteen runs since last win in 2019.but he did record a creditable in-frame effort in a competitive handicap when fourth of 15 in the Lanark Bell at Hamilton (1½m, good to soft) 12 days ago. Back down in trip.

Low-mileage 4-y-o who was beaten only by a race-fit pair at Ripon (1m) on return in April. Went backwards from that when eighth of 13 in handicap at Hamilton (8.3f, good to firm, 9/1) in May but it remains early days with him. Back up in trip after a break.

Verdict

A chance is taken on MUJTABA bouncing back from a couple of slightly underwhelming efforts in the spring as his 3-y-o promise is still fresh in the memory. Just Fine has a solid record and this looks a touch easier than the races he's contested so far this season so he's an obvious threat. Vulcan wasn't seen to best effect at Chelmsford last time and also makes the shortlist.
