White Willow²⁸

Age: 4| Weight: 10-2| J: O J Orr| T: R A Fahey| OR: 79

9/2

Landed an AW novice in January and went in again at Thirsk in May. Sound return from a break when second of 4 over this trip at Ayr 4 weeks ago and she's less exposed than most for a yard among the winners.

Form: 2-13102

Arenas Del Tiempo²¹

Age: 4| Weight: 10-0| J: Paddy Bradley⁽³⁾| T: J R Boyle| OR: 77| CD

7/1

Front-runner with a C&D win to his name. Has recorded a couple of respectable efforts since Jim Boyle has taken over her training and she's been given a chance by the handicapper. One to consider.

Form: 236054

(6)

Kaaranah³⁰

Age: 4| Weight: 9-12| J: Jim Crowley| T: J Butler| OR: 75

9/2

Winner at Galway for Johnny Murtagh last summer. Good second on AW at Lingfield for new yard in May. Not at his best on a return visit to Galway for his new yard last month but he's capable of bouncing back with the stable among the winners.

Form: 138-528

(9)

Wisper²⁵

Age: 4| Weight: 9-11| J: D C Costello| T: M P Tregoning| OR: 74| D

16/5

Third Brighton win of the year and readily seeing off 5 rivals 25 days ago. Runner-up over C&D prior to that. Further 6 lb rise unlikely to prevent another prominent showing from this in-form filly.

Form: 2-15121

(4)

Tartan Chief¹⁰

Age: 3| Weight: 9-9| J: Mohammed Tabti⁽⁷⁾| T: P & O Cole| OR: 79

4/1

Dual winner last term and back on his game when runner-up at Windsor and third at Newbury (both 1¼m) on his last 2 outings. Ought to be competitive again.

Form: 11-8523

(5)

Change Of Fortune²⁵

Age: 3| Weight: 9-7| J: Dane O'Neill| T: H Candy| OR: 77

22/1

Fairly useful form, finishing third of 10 in 1¼m Nottingham novice last time. Makes handicap debut.

Form: 563

(1)

Fifteenthamendment^p²⁸

Age: 3| Weight: 9-6| J: N Callan| T: M Botti| OR: 76| D

11/1

Winner at Nottingham in May but but he's managed only a couple of fifths off this mark since. Needs to find some improvement to resume winning ways.

Form: 36-2155

(8)

Playday²³

Age: 3| Weight: 8-13| J: Rob Hornby| T: R M Beckett| OR: 69| D

17/2

Frankel filly who seemed to relish the return to front-running tactics when making all at Leicester (1¼m) last month. Creditable fourth at Haydock since and his stable has won the last 2 runnings of this race.

Form: 0-65714

Weight: 10-1| Age: 8

Forecasts

Wisper (16/5), Tartan Chief (4/1), White Willow (9/2), Kaaranah (9/2), Arenas Del Tiempo (7/1), Balgair (8/1), Playday (17/2), Fifteenthamendment (11/1), Change Of Fortune (22/1)

WHITE WILLOW may not have reached her limit after only 4 handicap starts and is taken to strike for the Richard Fahey/Oisin Orr combination. Arenas Del Tiempo and Balgair are more than capable off their current marks, while the fact Ralph Beckett has won this contest for the last 2 years also earns Playday a place on the shortlist.
