Novel Legend¹⁵

Age: 3| Weight: 9-11| J: Rhys Clutterbuck⁽³⁾| T: J R Fanshawe| OR: 77

17/2

Fair form on each of his first 3 outings, shaping a bit better than the result at Nottingham last time. Potential improver up in trip, but the handicapper hasn't taken any chances with opening mark.

Form: 769

Wagga Wagga⁴³

Age: 3| Weight: 9-7| J: S M Levey| T: H Morrison| OR: 73| C| D

8/11

Progressive, well-bred sort who arrives on the hat-trick having scored cosily at this course (13.3f) in July. More to come, so looks the one to beat.

Form: 98-0211

(1)

Jalea Moon²¹

Age: 3| Weight: 9-6| J: A Kirby| T: Jane Chapple-Hyam| OR: 72| D

7/1

Career best when winning 7-runner handicap at Newmarket (12f, good to firm, 5/2) 21 days ago, soon clear. Going the right way and looks likely to put up another bold showing.

Form: 814221

(5)

Meleri²⁹

Age: 3| Weight: 9-6| J: P Cosgrave| T: J R Boyle| OR: 72

8/1

Nathaniel filly who showed big improvement to make a winning handicap debut at Newmarket in June and was far from discredited when second at Sandown next time. Has stamina to prove but she's worthy of respect.

Form: 0-6812

(6)

Tying The Knot²¹

Age: 3| Weight: 9-5| J: M Harley| T: A King| OR: 71

50/1

Lightly raced maiden who was down the field at Southwell last time and will need to up his game if he's to make an impact what looks like a stiff opening mark.

Form: 835-7

(4)

Livalot²¹

Age: 3| Weight: 9-4| J: L Dettori| T: W Jarvis| OR: 70

18/1

Fair form to date and bred to do a bit better, so not a forlorn hope now switched to handicaps with Dettori booked.

Form: 644

(7)

Dark Mystery¹³

Age: 3| Weight: 9-3| J: H Crouch| T: Ian Williams| OR: 69

9/1

Fair maiden who benefited from a drop back in grade when second in a 4-runner handicap at Newmarket 13 days ago. Looks vulnerable to less-exposed types, though.

Form: 3-63902

(2)

Ve Day²¹

Age: 3| Weight: 9-2| J: Jason Watson| T: A M Balding| OR: 68

14/1

Shaped well on his second start at Wolverhampton in the winter and shaped as if he needed his return at Southwell 3 weeks ago. Remains with potential now handicapping.

Form: 84-8

(9)

Trojan Truth¹⁸

Age: 3| Weight: 9-0| J: T E Whelan| T: E De Giles| OR: 66

33/1

Fair form to date but had the run of things when third at Windsor on handicap debut. Others look to have a bit more scope for improvement.

Form: 74643

Forecasts

Wagga Wagga (8/11), Jalea Moon (7/1), Meleri (8/1), Novel Legend (17/2), Dark Mystery (9/1), Ve Day (14/1), Livalot (18/1), Trojan Truth (33/1), Tying The Knot (50/1)

WAGGA WAGGA is firmly on the up and his pedigree leaves him open to a good deal more improvement, so he's fancied to land the hat-trick at the likely expense of Jalea Moon, another comfortable last-time- out winner. Novel Legend looks the pick of the handicap debutants.
