Star Shield^p²¹

Age: 7| Weight: 9-9| J: D Tudhope| T: D O'Meara| OR: 74| D

10/1

Dual AW scorer during the winter who has been operating below best on turf in recent months, albeit probably not well served by switch to positive tactics when sixth of 7 in handicap at Musselburgh (8f, good) 21 days ago. Mark is creeping down at least.

Diamond Haze¹³

Age: 4| Weight: 9-9| J: Connor Beasley| T: M Dods| OR: 74| D

11/4

Both career victories gained at Thirsk, the latest over 1m in May and he again ran well when runner-up at Musselburgh (1m) on penultimate start. Below form fourth of 8 in handicap at Pontefract (1m) 13 days ago, possibly not helped by racing close to strong gallop.

Under Fox^b¹⁶

Age: 4| Weight: 9-6| J: D Allan| T: T D Easterby| OR: 71| D

5/2

Improved for application of blinkers last term, adding second success to his tally at Hamilton (8.3f) in September. Enough in his 3 starts this season to suggest he's in good heart and he rates a big player here.

Form: 312-234

Mi Capricho²¹

Age: 7| Weight: 9-3| J: Callum Rodriguez| T: K Dalgleish| OR: 68| CD

10/1

C&D winner. Fifth of 7 in handicap at Musselburgh (1m) 21 days ago, weakening when bumped final 1f. Remains 4 lb above last winning mark and efforts more miss than hit so far this term.

Form: 13-4845

Yaaser¹⁴

Age: 4| Weight: 9-1| J: P Mulrennan| T: J S Goldie| OR: 66| BF| C

15/8

New yard found the key to him this season, landing back-to-back 7f handicaps here/Musselburgh in May and hitting the frame from his inflated mark all 3 starts since. Assessor applies a little more pressure but foolish to rule out in present groove.

Forecasts

Yaaser (15/8), Under Fox (5/2), Diamond Haze (11/4), Star Shield (10/1), Mi Capricho (10/1)

UNDER FOX proved a different proposition equipped with blinkers last season, winning twice prior to signing off with a smashing second at Pontefract on his final start. Performing with credit in defeat so far this term, he could prove a tough nut to crack on the front end. Yaaser is thriving at present and along with Diamond Haze, heads up the dangers.
