6/1

Sixteen runs since last win in 2019. Creditable third of 12 in handicap at Thirsk (7f, good to firm, 18/1) 13 days ago. Should give another good account.

Form: 8/82023

Not straightforward and recent turf efforts no more than respectable. Is potentially still a classy sort for a 0-75, though, so a revival wouldn't come as a big surprise.

Diamond Haze²⁷

Age: 4| Weight: 9-6| J: Connor Beasley| T: M Dods| OR: 72| D

9/4

Snapped a losing run in 1m Thirsk handicap (good) 27 days ago and a lot of his best efforts have been reserved for that North Yorkshire venue. Doesn't necessarily strike as an obvious type to follow up.

Form: 285-361

(5)

Mi Capricho¹⁴

Age: 7| Weight: 9-4| J: Callum Rodriguez| T: K Dalgleish| OR: 70| C| D

Course winner. Creditable fourth of 8 in handicap (11/2) at Carlisle (1m, good) 14 days ago.

Form: 513-484

Hajjam¹⁰

Age: 8| Weight: 9-4| J: D Nolan| T: L Bailey| OR: 70| D

40/1

Won a 7f Redcar claimer at the beginning of the month but not in same form when well-held fourth in similar event back there since.

Form: 0-70714

Award Dancer²⁴⁵

Age: 4| Weight: 9-4| J: S H James| T: Grant Tuer| OR: 70| D

15/8

Failed to win on AW in Ireland for Joseph O'Brien but struck at the first time of asking for new stable in 1m Newcastle handicap in October. Switches to turf for the first time on reappearance. Much less exposed than rest of these.

Form: 56761-

Bulls Aye¹⁴¹

Age: 4| Weight: 9-4| J: A Mullen| T: I Jardine| OR: 70| C

14/1

Course winner. Absent since pulling up in a listed juvenile hurdle here in February. Can be competitive off this mark on his best form but betting perhaps the best guide after a break.

Form: 46467-7

Forecasts

Award Dancer (15/8), Diamond Haze (9/4), Reputation (6/1), Star Shield (13/2), Mi Capricho (9/1), Bulls Aye (14/1), Hajjam (40/1)

AWARD DANCER's Newcastle win last October came after a 6-month break so he's evidently capable when fresh and it's worth chancing that he'll prove as effective on turf as his unexposed profile provides hope for better again for his new trainer. Reputation arrives on the back of a couple of good efforts and rates an obvious threat, while Star Shield hasn't fired lately but he has plied his trade at a higher level for most of his career.
