Foaled March 17. 160,000 gns yearling, Kodiac colt. Yard's newcomers typically come on for a run, but this one needs a second look in the betting all the same.

Foaled April 1. Shamardal colt. Dam, 2-y-o 7f winner, half-sister to smart 1m winner Queen of Love. Newcomers from yard often fancied. Likely type on paper and interesting to see what the market has to say.

Sent off favourite and shaped with a good deal of promise when third of 11 on his recent introduction at Newbury (6.5f, good to soft). Bred in the purple and leading claims here with improvement on the cards.

Foaled April 22. Brother to 2-y-o 1m winner Final Applause, and half-brother to useful 7f/1m winner Lackeen and 1¼m winner True Accolade. Fact that he's equipped with a hood on debut is slightly disconcerting and Victory Dance is presumably the stable No 1.

Mere glimmers of ability in a Leicester maiden and a Chelmsford novice, and he's probably more one for nurseries in due course.

Foaled February 17. 700,000 gns foal. Half-brother to 3 winners, including smart 2-y-o 5f-7f winner Skitter Scatter and useful US 2-y-o 1m winner Data Dependent. Much to like on paper and top yard is a frequent source of winning newcomers.

Foaled February 9. £125,000 yearling. Closely related to 1m-1½m winner Jaafy and half-brother to 3 winners, including useful 9f-12.5f winner Tres Belle and 1m/9f winner Ghzayel. The market should offer clues as to what is expected of this colt first time out.

Little impact in maidens at Newbury and Leicester and, like stablemate King Kraken, she'll probably be seen in a better light when tackling nurseries further down the line.

Forecasts

Victory Dance (8/11), Bresson (9/4), Animate (6/1), Golden Speech (12/1), Indian Renegade (25/1), We Could Be Heroes (33/1), Acotango (50/1), King Kraken (80/1), Cariad (150/1)

Verdict

There's an awful lot to like about VICTORY DANCE on paper and the hint should be taken if the market speaks in his favour. His stable companion Golden Speech also boasts an appealing pedigree, but the presence of headgear first time out is cause for concern and Victory Dance will probably have most to fear from the well-bred Bresson, who shaped well on debut at Newbury and is open to improvement. Animate is another newcomer to note.
