John L. Havery 70th Birthday Handicap Hurdle

Off time: 13:35 | Winning time: 5m 24.90s

Our Three Sons^p²¹

Age: 11| Weight: 12-0| J: Page Fuller| T: Charlotte Fuller| OR: 97

7/2

Proved he retains a fair level of ability as he scored for the first time in almost 4 years at Plumpton (25f) in May. Similar form when third under a 7 lb penalty at Southwell since and should go well again.

Form: 32U/7-13

Floy Joy^t⁶⁷

Age: 6| Weight: 11-11| J: Brendan Powell| T: J Tizzard| OR: 94

11/4

Bumper winner who posted an improved effort when second on his handicap debut at Newton Abbot just over a year ago. Failed to build on that in 4 starts last season but has been cut further slack by the handicapper. Not dismissed.

Form: 52/055P-

Caspers Court^p¹⁹

Age: 8| Weight: 11-10| J: Paul O'Brien| T: K Woollacott| OR: 93

3/1

Thirteen runs since last win in 2020 but posted another good effort when third of 12 in 23f handicap hurdle at Worcester (good) 19 days ago. Should remain competitive.

Form: 27062-3

Age Of Wisdom^b¹⁰

Age: 9| Weight: 11-7| J: J E Moore| T: G & J Moore| OR: 90

4/1

Found only one too good twice here (25.7f) late last season but has run well below form both outings since. Needs to get back on track.

Form: 57228-5

Menapian^p²⁸

Age: 11| Weight: 10-2| J: Charlie Price⁽³⁾| T: Mrs H R J Nelmes| OR: 71

7/1

Poor maiden who finished a remote third in 6-runner novice hurdle at Newton Abbot (21.6f, good to soft) 4 weeks ago, left behind by principals from 3 out. More realistic chance now back in handicap company at least.

Form: 0/PP42-3

Lightning Bug⁶⁷

Age: 5| Weight: 10-2| J: Charlie Hammond| T: Miss S Smith| OR: 69

28/1

Poor maiden who was pulled up after 6 months off at Chepstow in early April. Hard to recommend.

Form: P/P46PP-

Kalakawa Enki^p⁷¹

Age: 8| Weight: 10-2| J: James Davies| T: A Irvine| OR: 45

100/1

Looks very limited on early evidence. Easily passed over on handicap debut from well out of the weights.

Form: P/0P4-

Forecasts

Floy Joy (11/4), Caspers Court (3/1), Our Three Sons (7/2), Age Of Wisdom (4/1), Menapian (7/1), Lightning Bug (28/1), Kalakawa Enki (100/1)

OUR THREE SONS clearly isn't the force of old but a reproduction of his recent Southwell third may well be good enough to see him resume winning ways. Caspers Court hasn't won for a long time but arrives in good form and ought to remain competitive, while Floy Joy isn't dismissed from a reduced mark, either.
