Oo De Lally²⁰³

Age: 4| Weight: 9-7| J: William Cox⁽³⁾| T: A M Balding| OR: 103| DWS

12/1

Firmly back on track when landing a 7f Glorious Goodwood handicap in July. Brushed aside in a deeper race at Ascot in October and off since but did win on last season's reappearance. Has had a wind op.

Mehmento⁵³

Age: 4| Weight: 9-2| J: Hollie Doyle| T: A Watson| OR: 98| D

9/1

Heavily backed and gained first handicap win in 5-runner contest at Southwell in January. Fared as well as could be expected at Newcastle since and revised mark is fair.

Form: 648-513

(3)

Gioia Cieca⁷

Age: 4| Weight: 9-0| J: Callum Rodriguez| T: K Dalgleish| OR: 96| D

11/1

Found a jolt of improvement when making second handicap start a winning one at Musselburgh in June 2021. Underperformed on last week's return to action at that venue but he may strip fitter for that.

Form: 40124-9

(9)

Snash¹⁹⁶

Age: 4| Weight: 8-13| J: T Eaves| T: T D Easterby| OR: 95

50/1

Low-mileage 4-y-o who returned with win in 5-runner novice at Newcastle in February 2021. Off 7 months after and in nothing like the same form twice in the autumn so has a bit to prove on return for new yard.

Form: 617/100-

(6)

Oh This Is Us⁷

Age: 9| Weight: 8-11| J: Tom Marquand| T: R Hannon| OR: 93| CD

11/1

Listed and Group 3 winner in the first half of 2021. Operating well below that level on AW in recent months and return to turf didn't spark a revival at Newbury a week ago.

Form: 09-8670

(8)

Boardman¹⁹

Age: 6| Weight: 8-8| J: D Allan| T: T D Easterby| OR: 90| CD

3/1

Real success story for Tim Easterby last spring, completing a hat-trick at Chester in May having won here first. Shaped well when fourth from a poor draw at Redcar 19 days ago and of serious interest with that under his belt.

Form: 04050-4

(1)

Silver Samurai⁵²

Age: 5| Weight: 8-7| J: N Callan| T: M Botti| OR: 89| BF| D

5/1

Smooth winner at Doncaster in June and just about better than ever when second back from a break at Kempton last month, albeit he was outbattled. Up 3 lb and usual hood left off.

Form: 63723-2

(2)

Summer Sands²²⁵

Age: 5| Weight: 8-6| J: Shane Gray| T: R A Fahey| OR: 88

11/1

Stopped the slide from a falling mark when fifth at Doncaster in September. Off since and upped in trip but his profile isn't particularly convincing.

Form: 79/6005-

(4)

Alrehb²⁴

Age: 5| Weight: 8-6| J: Laura Pearson⁽³⁾| T: K P De Foy| OR: 88| D

3/1

Has raced exclusively on the AW so far, making it 3 wins from 6 runs despite a wide trip at Lingfield last month. Looks a handicapper to keep on the right side of.

Form: 212-511

(12)

Lovely Breeze^b¹⁴³

Age: 4| Weight: 8-5| J: Hayley Turner| T: H Palmer| OR: 87| BF| D

12/1

Kept busy last year, winning brace of small-field contests during the summer. Pretty consistent on the whole since but has no margin for error from current mark on return.

Form: 642323-

Forecasts

Boardman (3/1), Alrehb (3/1), Silver Samurai (5/1), Rhoscolyn (7/1), Mehmento (9/1), Oh This Is Us (11/1), Gioia Cieca (11/1), Summer Sands (11/1), Oo De Lally (12/1), Lovely Breeze (12/1), Sir Dancealot (16/1), Snash (50/1)

BOARDMAN is back on his last winning mark and he caught the eye when fourth from a poor draw on his recent return at Redcar. That should have put him spot on for this so he makes plenty of appeal. Alrehb is on the up and is a huge threat if as effective on turf, with Oo de Lally completing the shortlist.
