Stopped the slide in blinkers when runner-up at Wincanton and at least respectable efforts since, sixth of 15 in Plate Handicap at the Cheltenham Festival last month. Claims back in calmer waters at the scene of his best performance (Kauto Star winner in 2019).

Front runner who won back-to-back races (handicap/novice) over C&D in November. Looked rusty after a 4-month break here (2m) last time. Likely better for that and can bounce back.

Has thrived this season, a Newbury win in December and last month's Sandown victory bookending a series of creditable placed efforts in defeat. Excellent second (clear of rest) off a career-high mark at former track 11 days ago and should go well again.

Record mixed over fences this term but back to best to score at Fakenham (16.2f) in January. Poor efforts at Sandown/Newbury subsequently, however, and remains a risky proposition.

Capitalised on a falling mark to record a first success for over over 2 years at Newcastle last month for his in-form yard. This much tougher but still on a potentially good mark up 6 lb.

Forecasts

Rockstar Ronnie (2/1), Slate House (9/4), Mystical Clouds (10/3), Doukarov (5/1), Somekindofstar (11/1)

Verdict

ROCKSTAR RONNIE shaped as if needing the run after 4 months off here 25 days ago and could prove hard to pass this time, so he is taken to make it 3 from 3 over this C&D. Slate House was far from disgraced at the Cheltenham Festival and is a big threat back down in class, along with the thriving Doukarov.
