Tough Out²⁷

Age: 5| Weight: 11-12| J: Jamie Hamilton| T: Mrs J Stephen| OR: 112

Placed in a point and fair start in novice hurdles this year. Up in trip for handicap debut and will need to improve from this opening mark.

Form: 5-P333

Cosmic Outlaw⁹⁶

Age: 6| Weight: 11-8| J: Craig Nichol| T: R Dobbin| OR: 108

11/2

Irish point winner who made a promising start over hurdles for yard at Ayr before seeming to get stuck in the mud in C&D event in December. Given a break ahead of handicap debut and could do better. One to note.

Form: 331-34

Half Shot^h⁴⁶

Age: 8| Weight: 11-5| J: C O'Farrell| T: I Jardine| OR: 105

5/1

Fair maiden jumper at up to this trip in Ireland. Has had plenty of racing but certainly not impossible that new yard could unlock a bit of improvement from him. Could be competitive and the betting potentially revealing.

Form: 900724

Lanty Slea^p1³⁹

Age: 7| Weight: 11-1| J: Danny McMenamin| T: N G Richards| OR: 101

11/1

Bumper winner in 2020. Not been plain sailing for him over hurdles this term, though he managed to complete when not seen to best effect at Sedgefield 5 weeks ago. Mark has fallen and has cheekpieces on up in trip now. Worth a look.

Form: 5-2FUP6

The Jad Factor²⁷

Age: 6| Weight: 11-0| J: William Shanahan⁽⁷⁾| T: R M Smith| OR: 100

9/4

Improved to gain what looked an unlikely victory at Newcastle (20.3f) 4 weeks ago, outpaced home turn but finding plenty to lead soon after last. Third won a handicap at Hexham last week and this longer trip should suit, so he has good claims after 4 lb rise.

Form: 458231

Off The Beat⁴⁵

Age: 8| Weight: 11-0| J: Ryan Mania| T: A M Thomson| OR: 100

40/1

Novice hurdle winner in January 2020 but has lost his way, pulled up on all 3 outings this season (here after breathing op latest). Plenty to prove.

Form: 520-PPP

Lissen To The Lady^p²³

Age: 8| Weight: 10-7| J: Miss J Walton⁽⁵⁾| T: Miss S E Forster| OR: 93| CD

4/1

Improved to register a second C&D success last month and ran well at Ayr next time. Couldn't rule out back at this venue.

Form: 656013

West Lawn¹⁸

Age: 6| Weight: 10-1| J: Harry Reed| T: J Walton| OR: 87| D

17/2

Stout pedigree and relished the step up in trip as she opened her account on handicap debut at Hexham (23.3f) last month, staying on well. This is tougher up 4 lb but she could have more to offer.

Form: 65941

Lizzie Loch¹⁰

Age: 6| Weight: 10-0| J: C J Todd⁽³⁾| T: Ewan Whillans| OR: 84

18/1

Modest Flat winner who is a maiden in this sphere and hard to catch right. Stamina to prove and she can run in weaker races than this.

Form: 553730

Forecasts

The Jad Factor (9/4), Lissen To The Lady (4/1), Half Shot (5/1), Cosmic Outlaw (11/2), West Lawn (17/2), Lanty Slea (11/1), Tough Out (16/1), Lizzie Loch (18/1), Off The Beat (40/1)

THE JAD FACTOR looked all stamina when opening his account at Newcastle 4 weeks ago and is fancied to follow up over this longer trip with a promising 7 lb conditional back in the saddle. Cosmic Outlaw is interesting on his handicap debut, as is Half Shot starting out for Iain Jardine. Hexham-winner West Lawn could have more to offer and completes the shortlist.
