Well-related colt, brother to the classy Taghrooda and useful 1½m winner Taqaareed, and half-brother to useful 1½m winner Almoghared. Represents top yard and needs close attention in the betting.

Failed to build on debut promise when fourth of 8 in 8.3f maiden at Nottingham when last seen in October (gelded since). Likely he'll be seen in a better light in handicaps further down the line.

Half-brother to several winners, but sent off at 125/1 and finished out with the washing on sole 2-y-o start at Newmarket (7f) in October.

Brother to 2-y-o 1m winner Companionship. Top yard more than capable of readying a newcomer and, armed with an entry in the Derby, it will be interesting to see which way this Galileo colt goes in the betting.

Shaped well on debut at Kempton (7f) in November and improved when just touched off by a Godolphin newcomer upped to a mile there a month later. Hood enlisted here and further progress likely now faced with a stiffer test.

Price rose to 65,000 gns yearling having fetched €10,000 as a foal, and he's a half-brother to 1½m-13.3f winner Margaret Dumont and 1m-11f winner Bethany. However, yard's newcomers usually come on for a run.

€38,000 yearling who is a half-brother to several winners, including 1½m winner Mighty Blue and 10.5f-13f winner Modern Eagle, both useful. Well worth a second look in the betting.

Didn't shape with a great deal of promise in 2 starts as a juvenile, and he's another who will probably come into his own when venturing down the handicap route in due course.

Forecasts

Groundbreaker (5/4), Almuhit (7/2), General Idea (4/1), Surrey Knight (8/1), Dizzy Ed (18/1), Seal Of Solomon (18/1), Togai (28/1), Battani (28/1)

Verdict

Andrew Balding saddled Bangkok to win this maiden in 2019 and his representative GROUNDBREAKER, who showed plenty in two starts at Kempton towards the end of last year, is very much the one to beat. Newcomers do not have a good record in this race (only one first-time-out winner since 2006), but General Idea and Almuhit both make plenty of appeal on paper, particularly the former, and rate the main dangers.
