Made a promising start over hurdles when second at Hereford and went one better in impressive fashion at Chepstow (2m) last month, dictating and in command after last. Hard to beat under a penalty.

No great shakes between the flags and modest form in 2 bumpers in Ireland in March. More encouragement when second at Hereford on hurdling/stable debut but failed to repeat that effort at Chepstow.

Half-brother to fairly useful 2½m chase winner Russian Epic (by Diktat). Fairly useful maiden on Flat, stays 1¼m, below form last 3 starts. Sold from David Menuisier for 10,000 gns in October.

Fair form in bumpers and reasonable start over hurdles when fifth of 12 at Fontwell prior to unseating over C&D last week. Should do better at some stage.

Fairly useful but temperamental on Flat (stays 1¾m) and showed nothing on last week's C&D hurdling debut.

Forecasts

Chanceux (2/7), Sami Bear (9/2), Ballycorr (12/1), Russian Virtue (28/1), Systemic (33/1), Chronos (50/1), Blakey Bear (80/1), Kalakawa Enki (250/1)

Verdict

CHANCEUX readily opened his account over hurdles at Chepstow last month, and although that race probably didn't take a great deal of winning, he looks to have been found an excellent opportunity to follow up under a penalty. Sami Bear is narrowly preferred to both Russian Virtue and Ballycorr for forecast purposes.

  1. CHANCEUX (IRE)
  2. SAMI BEAR
  3. RUSSIAN VIRTUE
