Has failed to meet market expectations under Rules so far, though did shape like a stayer on hurdles debut over 2m at Sandown last month and he now goes up in trip.

Won the second of his 3 starts in bumpers. Shaped as though in need of the run on hurdles debut at Lingfield in October and he's sure to step up on that.

Third sole start in Irish points and settled better than previously under Rules when runner-up over this sort of trip at Chepstow 18 days ago. Should be in the mix.

Runner-up sole start in points around a year ago but didn't achieve a lot on last month's hurdles bow.

Winning pointer who shaped really well when third of 11 in a Warwick bumper on debut. Runner-up on hurdles debut here (2m) in October and built on that to go one better in ready fashion at Leicester.

Runner-up sole start in points (Mar 29) and offered something to work on both hurdles starts during the autumn, latterly when sixth of 14 over this C&D.

Made the frame in Irish points and plenty of encouragement when placed all 3 bumper starts, latest at Stratford in March. Made a few novicey mistakes on hurdles bow over C&D but he will improve.

Well held in 2 bumpers for David O'Meara last season and has failed to complete both outings over timber for current yard.

Merely hinted at promise both starts 11 months apart and looks one for further down the line.

Half-brother to smart hurdler Roksana. Has looked green both starts but clearly possesses his share of ability. Aintree race is reasonable form and represents in-form yard.

Timeform
Milan mare who shaped like a stayer both starts in bumpers for Fergal O'Brien. Never in the hunt completed start over timber for new yard and she's likely to need time and distance.

Forecasts

Get A Tonic (6/5), Tigerbythetail (5/2), Blairgowrie (9/2), Nothin To Ask (7/1), Dan's Chosen (12/1), Here Comes Henry (25/1), Coronado Joe (40/1), Roger Rarebit (100/1), Fitz In (125/1), Milanese Rose (200/1), One For Navigation (200/1)

Verdict

TIGERBYTHETAIL still looks a work-in-progress, but that adds to his long-term potential and, now expected to take a jump forward from Aintree, he could be the way to go for a yard in tremendous form. Get A Tonic did it nicely at Leicester 3 weeks ago and is an obvious threat under a penalty, with Blairgowrie expected to relish this trip.
