Has developed into a very smart chaser, posting several cracking efforts in defeat last term. Had a pipe-opener over an inadequate trip at Kelso last month, so should be spot on now.

Revived by this yard last season, scoring over C&D before putting up a huge effort when second in the Scottish Grand National. Respectable return at Kelso and tongue tie is back on, so should go well.

Smashing veteran chaser who added the Sky Bet Chase to his CV in January. Should strip fitter for a spin over hurdles at Kelso 3 weeks ago, and he won this a couple of years ago.

Back to his best after a wind op when landing veterans' handicap chase at Chepstow in October but he was pulled up at Wincanton next time. Others are more persuasive.

Largely progressive 7-y-o who saw the trip out thoroughly when landing Classic Chase at Warwick (29f, soft) in January. Seemed amiss on both subsequent outings, so bit to prove on return.

Won the Eider here last term and, although he's failed to complete in two subsequent outings, he's likely to come on for his reappearance at Bangor.

Enhanced a good record fresh when scoring at Wetherby 29 days ago but the form hasn't worked out and he didn't have much to spare, so he may prove vulnerable in this more competitive environment.

Regular in competitive handicaps and both outings this term have showed he's still of interest, finishing with running left when midfield in the Paddy Power at Cheltenham last time. One to consider.

One-time very smart chaser for Mick Channon and, while not the force of old, showed there's still life in him when recording an encouraging fourth at Ascot on stable/seasonal debut. Respected.

Fairly useful hurdler who doubled his chase tally at Haydock (20.6f) in March. Faced a stiff task at Carlisle on reappearance, and he's likely to be fitter for that outing.

Took very well to chasing on the back of wind surgery last term, and there was nothing wrong with his third at Musselburgh on reappearance. Still relatively unexposed and makes plenty of appeal.

Proved very reliable last term and picked up where he left off when an excellent third at Cheltenham on his reappearance. 3 lb out of the weights up in grade now, though.

Verdict

THE FERRY MASTER is lightly raced over fences in the context of a race like this and, having shaped as if he'd strip fitter for his reappearance, he's well worth a chance to resume progress and get back to winning ways. There are numerous others with credible claims, however, notably Dingo Dollar and the highly likeable Aye Right.

  2. DINGO DOLLAR (IRE)
  3. AYE RIGHT (IRE)
