Bright start over hurdles last term, winning twice at up to 21.7f. Underwhelming return/chase debut effort over 23.5f here last month but certainly not one to write off in this sphere.

Maiden hurdle winner (at 19.7f) who hit frame 3 times in handicap hurdles last winter. Had lost place when falling on return over fences at Exeter 2 weeks ago but he may strip fitter for that run here

German Flat winner who won 2 hurdles too in France in 2019. Promise on 2 of his 3 starts over fences for present yard last season, midfield at Newbury (2m) in March. Good showing not ruled out.

Fair winning novice hurdler last season who seemed to find things happening too quickly on return in a listed handicap hurdle at Ascot in October. Longer trip a plus now chasing.

Progressed with each start over hurdles, runner-up in a Plumpton maiden (15.9f) back in January. Interesting what the market makes of him now chasing on return with yard amongst the winners.

Definite signs of promise first 2 starts over hurdles last term prior to looking a little one paced at Carlisle (19.3f) final start in March. Still, it is early days and progress likely now chasing.

Bumper winner who put it all together to open hurdles account at Wincanton (15.3f) in March. Runner-up back there final start and possible switch to chasing will bring about improvement. Worth a look.

From a good jumping family and finished runner-up on 2 of 4 starts over hurdles. Poor effort at Chepstow (19.5f) when last seen in February but worth noting if strong in betting on return/chase debut.

Fairly useful maiden hurdler whose record last season was mixed. Never figured on chase debut at Hereford (20.8f) 25 days ago and he'll need to show the benefit of that run to figure here.

Lightly-raced maiden hurdler who wasn't disgraced when second over hurdles in a Ffos Las handicap (20f) back from 8 months off in October. Another needing a market check now tackling larger obstacles.

Dual winner over hurdles in Ireland but hasn't offered much encouragement over fences, including in a couple of runs for present yard this autumn. Hood again the headgear of choice.

Hurdles winner who showed benefit of return/chase debut run despite making hard work of things when second at Fontwell (19.5f) 11 days ago. Still, definite claims if blinkers help him focus.

Bumper winner who ran to a fair level without success over hurdles. Definite promise when second on C&D chase debut recently and likely to come on for that run. Good showing anticipated.

Forecasts

Dorking Lad (3/1), Animal (10/3), Get Your Own (13/2), Star Academy (9/1), Silent Assistant (11/1), Blame The Game (12/1), Confirmation Bias (12/1), Seven No Trumps (14/1), Honorary Colonel (16/1), Buckhorn George (20/1), Foxboro (25/1), Lamanver Storm (40/1), You Say Nothing (125/1)

Verdict

DORKING LAD marked himself down as a candidate for headgear when runner-up at Fontwell 11 days ago, soon off the bridle but keeping on. So, with blinkers now enlisted, he could be worth chancing to put it all together with his yard in good order. This is an open-looking affair though, with Animal, Confirmation Bias and Seven No Trumps just a trio of others to consider, along with Star Academy.
