Useful on Flat and showed ability when runner-up both starts over hurdles in 2019. Lightly raced and generally disappointing since, though did offer something to work on when third on chase bow.

Fair efforts in a couple of bumpers, but he didn't cut much ice in handful of starts over hurdles. Tongue tied and a different proposition when landing 11-runner handicap chase at Uttoxeter.

Placed on second of 2 completed starts in Irish points and showed a bit first 2 runs over hurdles in 2019. Off since December that year so well-being has to be taken on trust now chasing. Tongue tied.

Handicap hurdle winner at Bangor in January. Off since May and though he does have a lot of chasing experience, his mark in this sphere looks a shade too high.

Signs of ability in first 3 starts over hurdles, but offered little when tailed-off tenth at Warwick when last seen. Probably best to look elsewhere for his reappearance now chasing.

In good hands but hasn't shown a lot under Rules. Hopes rest on switch to fences.

Winning pointer who was disappointing when switched to handicaps/fences last season. Unsuited by emphasis on speed on reappearance and better expected this time.

Scored over fences at Newton Abbot in June and has hit the frame last 3 starts. Jumped left over hurdles last time and return to this way round will suit.

Progressed again in first-time cheekpieces when opening her account at Worcester in May. Failed to back that up twice since and didn't look a natural chaser on her first stint.

Limited chaser who had been off the track over 3 years prior to last month's hurdles debut. Didn't shape without promise but others still preferred from out of the weights.

Forecasts

Brooksway Fair (11/4), Imperial Esprit (11/4), Sendhervictoria's (5/1), Kingston King (7/1), Wax And Wane (8/1), Sartene's Son (10/1), Getaway Lucy (12/1), Clondaw Dancer (22/1), Bebraveforglory (28/1), Valshan Time (66/1), Altumanina (66/1), Global Frontier (100/1), Son Of Oz (125/1)

Verdict

The combination of a wind operation, tongue tie and switch to chasing resulted in a much-improved showing from IMPERIAL ESPRIT at Uttoxeter 3 weeks ago and he may well shrug off a 10 lb rise. Brooksway Fair has failed to yet deliver on his early promise but it's far too soon to write him off, with Kingston King also of interest.
