In fine form as he landed this last year and his fourth in the bet365 at Sandown in the spring shows he can be competitive off his current mark. Bold bid could be on the cards on return after wind op.

Second to El Presente in this 12 months ago and was awarded bet365 Chase at Sandown as the season ended. Reliable sort who will hold his own again in these feature handicap chases this term.

Back to his best after a wind op when landing veterans' handicap chase at Chepstow 4 weeks ago, jumping well and eased close home. That will have done him wonders but he's 7 lb higher now.

Been in good form at Uttoxeter this summer, winning twice over this sort of trip. Would have been well beaten had he completed at Exeter last time, though. More needed all of a sudden.

Hurdles winner here and took to these fences well also when landing handicap over further a fortnight ago, value extra after a good round of jumping. No banker to be in same form off career-high mark.

Ended long losing run in 3m Kempton handicap in January. Suffered a crashing fall in the National final start last season and may still have been feeling the effects on his return behind Some Chaos.

Failed to go on after a promising start over fences, though may have needed last month's comeback over hurdles and yard's second-season novice chasers have been bouncing back. Blinkers go on.

Useful hurdler who improved on that when sent chasing last season, winning twice, and wasn't seen to best effect on return at Chepstow. Down 3 lb and better expected back up in trip here. Player.

Form hit new heights last season, successful in valuable handicap at Newbury second start before further good efforts. Should be spot on with reappearance under his belt (usual headgear back on).

Just 1 win to his name over fences and although he's not had much racing granted this sort of test, this looks tough on first run for 4 months.

Revitalised last season, winning 5 times (2 hurdle, 3 chase) at up to this trip. Should have come on for last month's return over hurdles and could have a bit more to offer.

Useful staying chaser at his best and should have come on for last month's return behind Irish Prophecy here for new yard. This is clearly tougher, however.

Has taken steps back in the right direction for new yard, placed in strong Chepstow handicap last month (in front of Irish Prophecy) under this rider. Not fired in this the last 2 years.

Forecasts

Hurricane Harvey (9/2), Cap Du Nord (9/2), Highland Hunter (11/2), Irish Prophecy (6/1), Cobra De Mai (9/1), Some Chaos (10/1), Potterman (11/1), Ofalltheginjoints (11/1), El Presente (12/1), Coup De Pinceau (14/1), Truckers Lodge (14/1), Storm Home (18/1), Innisfree Lad (22/1), Rocco (40/1), Double Shuffle (50/1)

Verdict

CAP DU NORD came of age over fences last season, winning a valuable handicap at Newbury on his second start before a series of fine runs in defeat in other good races. Last month's spin at Chepstow should have blown the cobwebs away and a big effort could be forthcoming with his usual cheekpieces back on. Highland Hunter is a huge player for Paul Nicholls, as is last year's winner El Presente.
