Is struggling for form at present but is now 5 lb below his last winning mark and this is easier than his last 2 assignments.

Successful at Uttoxeter and Cartmel in July and has continued in good form since, looking unlucky not to finish closer when sixth at Wetherby (24.1f) 3 weeks ago. Cheekpieces on for 1st time.

Fairly useful winner on Flat and bettered his juvenile form to come out on top in a novice at Perth in September. Unable to build on that form in handicaps but hasn't been disgraced. First try at 3m.

Built on a couple of runner-up efforts to go one better at Perth in May. Run best excused when third at same course last time and still relatively unexposed at staying trips.

Well and truly revived by Rebecca Menzies, winning over hurdles Market Rasen (20.5f) in July. Has also gone in three times on the Flat since so remains of interest now back over timber.

Recorded a first handicap success after 12 weeks off at Sedgefield in August. Only fifth of 12 in follow-up bid there a month later but had excuses and this step back up to 3m is a plus.

Forecasts

Wynford (9/4), Wakool (5/2), Red Missile (15/2), The Blame Game (8/1), Liffeydale Dreamer (8/1), Catchmeifyoucan (11/1), Idilico (16/1), Beach Break (20/1), Derrick D'Anjou (33/1)

Verdict

WAKOOL is a hurdler with still relatively few miles on the clock, especially at staying trips, so he looks the most persuasive option with that borne in mind. The Blame Game had excuses at Sedgefield last time and is better judged on his win there the previous month, while the revitalised Wynford also needs considering returning to this sphere.
