Winless following 3 starts in Irish points, but perfect start under Rules when landing a Hexham novice hurdle (23.3f, heavy) in May and he's open to improvement. Yard also saddles Outlaw Peter.

Successful on the second of his 2 starts between the flags, but recent Rules debut in a Cheltenham bumper wasn't at all encouraging. Hood enlisted for this hurdles bow.

Took very well to fences last term, winning each of his 3 completed starts. Undergone a wind op since latest outing and obvious chance back hurdling (placed both previous runs in this sphere).

Got the better of a subsequent bumper/hurdles winner on sole start between the flags back in November 2018. Lengthy absence an obvious concern ahead of this Rules debut, but needs a market check.

Off the mark at the fourth attempt in maiden points, but sent off at 50/1 and pulled up on recent hurdles debut.

Showed ability on first 3 starts in bumpers, but trailed in last of 10 at Uttoxeter when last seen in March and looks up against it starting out over hurdles here.

Encouraging debut in 16.8f Newton Abbot bumper in April. Built on that when runner-up over same C&D 2 months later and this stiffer test promises to suit now switched to hurdles. Cheekpieces added.

Shaped well when runner-up on debut in a Navan bumper in January. Duly went one better starting out for this yard at Worcester (2m) last month and of strong interest upped in trip for hurdles bow.

Point winner who showed fairly useful form when landing bumper here on Rules debut in December 2019. Absent since (has undergone a wind op in the interim) and likely the market will be informative.

Notched sixth success between the flags on latest start in May and should pay his way under Rules. Still, this is a warm-looking race in which to start out over hurdles.

Schiaparelli mare. Half-sister to 3 winners, including bumper winner/useful hurdler Geordie B and modest hurdler Amber Flush. Probably best watched on debut.

Forecasts

Ask Me Early (6/4), Outlaw Peter (15/8), Picanha (11/2), Grange Road (13/2), Bold Conduct (10/1), Raddon Top (40/1), Landen Calling (66/1), Mojito Royale (80/1), Askinvillar (125/1), Lazy Sunday (150/1), Doran's Bridge (200/1)

Verdict

OUTLAW PETER chased home subsequent Champion Bumper fourth Three Stripe Life on debut at Navan and looked a useful prospect when making a winning start for Paul Nicholls at Worcester last month. This step up in trip should be in his favour now switched to hurdles and he gets the nod ahead of Ask Me Early, who was highly progressive over fences last season, and stablemate Grange Road.

  1. OUTLAW PETER (IRE)
  2. ASK ME EARLY (IRE)
  3. GRANGE ROAD (IRE)
