Looked set to win when falling 2 out in sole point. Showed clear ability when sixth of 14 in Uttoxeter bumper on Rules debut. Should have a future over jumps.

Placed in Irish points and finished runner-up in a pair of Southwell bumpers in the spring. Ought to be up to making presence felt in a race like this now hurdling.

Dual soft-ground bumper winner at the start of 2021. Found an Aintree Grade 2 too much on final start but remains a decent hurdle prospect.

Well held in a bumper and 2 hurdles so far and likely he's more one for handicaps further down the line.

Runner-up in a point. Off 14 months, ran his most encouraging race under Rules when third in a 2m Worcester maiden hurdle 28 days ago but Brian Hughes sides with Fruit N Nut this time.

Fairly useful 1½m Flat winner for John Gosden in 2018 but absent since ahead of this switch to hurdles. Betting perhaps the best guide to what's expected after such a long lay-off.

Fair Flat winner but well held in a couple of juvenile hurdles back in 2019. First run of any kind for 13 months. Watching brief advised unless the betting hints otherwise.

2/1, showed plenty of ability when second of 9 in a 2m Southwell maiden hurdle on debut last September. Off since but appeals as the type to go on to better things for his top yard.

Has definite ability but this drop back in trip isn't sure to benefit him so he's passed over on this occasion.

Placed both starts in bumpers in recent weeks, albeit the form isn't anything special.

Forecasts

Fruit N Nut (11/8), Brorson (11/4), Unexpected Party (5/1), Stream Of Stars (10/1), Ballybreeze (10/1), Voyburg (12/1), Steinkraus (18/1), Tribal Commander (50/1), Loup De Maulde (100/1), Killane (150/1), Big Bad Buzz (250/1)

Verdict

FRUIT N NUT looks an interesting recruit to hurdling on the back of 2 bumper wins last winter and can make a successful start in this sphere for Donald McCain. Unexpected Party has been off for 13 months since his debut second but still looks the obvious main danger ahead of dual bumper runner-up Brorson. Stream of Stars is also worth keeping an eye on in the betting back after a long absence.

  1. FRUIT N NUT (IRE)
  2. UNEXPECTED PARTY (FR)
  3. BRORSON (IRE)
