Last year's November Handicap victor who had been in winning form over hurdles before returning with a solid effort in a listed event at Goodwood. Both subsequent efforts have been disappointing.
Ran a cracker to finish runner-up in Queen Alexandra Stakes in June. Even better when winning 20-runner handicap at Goodwood (20.6f, good to soft). Marked drop in trip won't suit, though.
Largely progressive at 3 and took it up another notch to win a valuable Australian handicap in March. Not disgraced at Royal Ascot 3 months ago and given a chance by the handicapper since. Considered.
Smart performer who hasn't been at the top of his game this term. Latest third of 4 at Haydock was a positive step and he's been dropped a couple of pounds since, so not a forlorn hope.
Useful sort who got back to winning ways in 10f handicap at Sandown in July and unsuited by the way things developed when runner-up at Newmarket since. A well-run race should bring more out of him.
Scored at Wolverhampton in February and backed that up with a couple of respectable efforts, tenth in the Chester Cup on latest. Marked drop back in trip doesn't look ideal returning from a break.
Ridden more prominently and better than ever when doubling career tally at Newmarket in May. Hasn't fired since but met trouble when mid-field at Ascot last time.
Useful sort who has been holding his form so far this term. Good third at Ascot last time but no clear indication that he's ahead of his mark.
Has looked in the handicapper's grip since landing a double at Lingfield earlier in the season and might need this return from 4 months off. Others make more appeal.
Overcame inexperience to make a winning debut at Nottingham last season and not seen to best effect when fourth to Eshaada on her return. Excuses in Ribblesdale 92 days ago and remains with potential.
Emphatic winner over 11f here in May on only his second handicap start. Not seen to best effect since and takes on his elders for the first time in ideal conditions, so big player.
Goodwood maiden winner on sole 2-y-o start and running well of late, going off hard when third at Ascot last time. Type to benefit from a hood, so he's an obvious player.

Forecasts
Makram (11/4), Surrey Gold (3/1), Star Caliber (5/1), Twisted Reality (9/1), Labeebb (10/1), Favorite Moon (14/1), On To Victory (14/1), Sextant (16/1), Calling The Wind (18/1), Master The Stars (20/1), Nate The Great (40/1), Galahad Threepwood (50/1)
SURREY GOLD bolted up at this track earlier in the year and has shaped better than the result on both subsequent starts, so he's fancied to get back to winning ways with the return to this trip firmly in his favour. Several others can have a case made for them, notably the improving Makram and the front-running Star Caliber.
