Kentford Mallard⁴⁴

Age: 8| Weight: 11-12| J: Kevin Jones| T: J W Mullins| OR: 95

4/1

Snapped a lengthy losing run when scoring at Southwell (20.5f, good) in June and backed it up with a good second at Uttoxeter. Likely to give another good account in a race that lacks depth.

Form: 3-36312

Mabela^t¹⁴¹

Age: 7| Weight: 11-9| J: Tom Buckley| T: J Tickle| OR: 92

28/1

Dual hurdles winner who lost her way for Dan Skelton, so needs to turn it round debuting for a new yard after 141 days off. Others make more appeal.

Form: 454P50-

Josie Abbing^h⁴¹

Age: 7| Weight: 11-8| J: Lily Pinchin⁽³⁾| T: D Killahena & G McPherson| OR: 91| CD

5/4

Belatedly opened her hurdles account over C&D in May. Good second here next time and had excuses the last twice, so not easily dismissed back under ideal conditions.

Form: 84-1296

Gibraltarian^p,t²⁴

Age: 5| Weight: 10-10| J: Charlie Price| T: J L Flint| OR: 79

5/1

Found further improvement to open her account over hurdles in 10-runner event at Newton Abbot in July. That form looks solid so, despite a disappointing run on the Flat since, he boasts strong claims.

Form: 9-8931

Strike The Flint^b1⁴¹

Age: 7| Weight: 10-7| J: N F Houlihan| T: Miss S Smith| OR: 76

9/1

Fair bumper winner but has largely disappointed over hurdles. Needs blinkers to perk her up.

Form: 087-P6P

Snug As A Bug^t⁶²

Age: 6| Weight: 10-7| J: Sean Houlihan| T: Mrs S Gardner| OR: 76

10/1

Well held in bumper/over hurdles. Switched to handicaps on debut for new yard, but yet to offer any ability.

Form: P/85-84P

Squeaky^h,t¹⁴

Age: 10| Weight: 10-5| J: Shane Quinlan| T: Andrew Martin| OR: 74

40/1

Point winner but hard to recommend on anything he's shown under Rules.

Form: 7/PP-U77

Lightning Bug⁸¹

Age: 4| Weight: 10-0| J: Charlie Hammond| T: Miss S Smith| OR: 70

18/1

No promise under either code so far so easily passed over once again.

Form: F67P-P4

Forecasts

Josie Abbing (5/4), Kentford Mallard (4/1), Gibraltarian (5/1), Strike The Flint (9/1), Snug As A Bug (10/1), Lightning Bug (18/1), Mabela (28/1), Squeaky (40/1)

GIBRALTARIAN arrives with a progressive profile over hurdles and looks an obvious choice despite a sub-par showing on the Flat in August. Kentford Mallard, the only other in-form sort, strikes as the obvious danger, although Josie Abbing may well get back on track at a course that suits her well.
