Lord Torranaga¹⁵

Age: 6| Weight: 11-0| J: Mr Henry Newcombe| T: P A Kirby| OR: 65

11/2

Yet to strike on turf in this sphere, but went close at Ayr last month and was successful over hurdles last year. Six-length winner at Southwell (1½m) recently and just 1 lb higher here.

My Brother Mike¹⁷

Age: 7| Weight: 10-12| J: Mr Adam O'Shea| T: J T Stimpson| OR: 63| D

3/1

AW winner in March and arrived late on the scene when belying odds of 25/1 under Adam O'Shea back from a break at Nottingham (10.2f, good) recently. 3 lb rise fair and he's an each-way player.

Form: 721541

(8)

Licit¹²

Age: 4| Weight: 10-12| J: Miss C R Crane| T: T D Easterby| OR: 63

7/1

Not disgraced on debut for new yard at Carlisle (9f, good to firm) recently and she's 1 lb lower here, but modest strike rate (1-18 on the Flat) tells a story.

Form: 755776

(1)

Whitwell¹⁷

Age: 4| Weight: 10-9| J: Miss Rosie Howarth⁽³⁾| T: M & D Easterby| OR: 60| C

11/4

Displayed a willing attitude when opening his account at Ripon in June. Nearly added to that when just touched off at Thirsk (1½m, good to firm) last time, but this drop back in trip may not be ideal.

Form: 232152

(2)

Lockdown Dream^v¹⁷

Age: 4| Weight: 10-8| J: Fern O'Brien| T: F O'Brien| OR: 59

7/2

Has made the frame on each of his 3 starts for present connections, coming home 9½ lengths fourth in the Nottingham handicap won by My Brother Mike last time. 6 lb better off with that rival here.

Form: 003244

(7)

Firby¹⁷

Age: 6| Weight: 10-6| J: Miss Rachel Taylor⁽³⁾| T: M Dods| OR: 57

25/1

Just the one win from 19 career starts. Encouraging return from a lengthy absence at Hamilton last month, but subsequently finished stone last in the Nottingham race won by My Brother Mike.

Form: 0304/50

(5)

Point Of Honour^p¹⁷

Age: 6| Weight: 9-9| J: Miss Pippa Brown⁽³⁾| T: Phillip Makin| OR: 46

18/1

Poor wins-to-runs ratio (1-29) and he was behind a couple of these at Nottingham earlier this month.

Form: 657596

(4)

Quoteline Direct^h¹⁷

Age: 8| Weight: 9-9| J: Mr James Waggott⁽³⁾| T: Micky Hammond| OR: 45

25/1

Losing run stretches back more than 3 years and he was another who was out with the washing in My Brother Mike's race at Nottingham.

Form: 803060

Forecasts

Whitwell (11/4), My Brother Mike (3/1), Lockdown Dream (7/2), Lord Torranaga (11/2), Licit (7/1), Point Of Honour (18/1), Quoteline Direct (25/1), Firby (25/1)

LORD TORRANAGA had plenty in hand when scoring at Southwell and will take plenty of stopping if able to reproduce form akin to that back on turf off just a 1 lb higher mark. Lockdown Dream was 9½ lengths adrift of My Brother Mike at Nottingham, but he may well reverse the placings here with the visor refitted and armed with a 6 lb pull. Fergal O'Brien's charge is second choice.
