Zagato^p²⁰

Age: 3| Weight: 9-7| J: R Havlin| T: J & T Gosden| OR: 85| D

7/2

Useful form when easy winner of Thirsk novice in June and, while he was laboured in a C&D handicap next time, it's too soon to write him off. One to consider back down in grade.

Form: 52-6214

(4)

Willyorwon't He¹⁴

Age: 3| Weight: 9-5| J: Hollie Doyle| T: P J McBride| OR: 83| BF| D

9/2

Gelded during the spring and has subsequently raised his game, backing up his Kempton breakthrough success with solid placed in-frame efforts. Warrants respect.

Form: 621234

(2)

Elvrika^b²³

Age: 3| Weight: 9-5| J: Cieren Fallon| T: W J Haggas| OR: 83| D

5/1

Dual winner already this term and firmly back on track when second at Yarmouth last time. Should go well again under a positive ride.

Form: 3-14152

(5)

Headingley^p²⁶

Age: 3| Weight: 9-4| J: W Buick| T: C & M Johnston| OR: 82| D

7/1

Quirky sort who resumed winning ways at Chelmsford in July but backed it up with a tame showing at Thirsk earlier this month. Others preferred.

Form: 035710

(6)

Tasfeeq¹⁶

Age: 3| Weight: 9-2| J: Jim Crowley| T: M P Tregoning| OR: 80| D

4/1

Lightly-raced winner yet to improve in handicaps but shaped a bit better than the result having been left with too much to do when fourth at Salisbury last time. Claims if he can build on that.

Form: 62-1354

(3)

Captain Cooper²⁴

Age: 3| Weight: 9-0| J: J P Spencer| T: K A Ryan| OR: 78

10/1

Looked one to follow on back of success at Newcastle (5f) in January and, while he hasn't really kicked on, his mark has dropped and his latest effort at Catterick was more encouraging.

Form: 145674

(1)

Cosmos Raj¹⁸

Age: 3| Weight: 8-12| J: James Doyle| T: D O'Meara| OR: 76| CD

13/2

Progressive sort who scored over C&D last month and comfortably followed up in 3-runner event at Ripon 18 days ago. This is tougher, but he's sure to give another good account.

Form: 252911

Forecasts

Zagato (7/2), Tasfeeq (4/1), Willyorwon't He (9/2), Elvrika (5/1), Cosmos Raj (13/2), Headingley (7/1), Captain Cooper (10/1)

ZAGATO was impressive when off the mark at Thirsk on his penultimate outing and, for the time being, is best excused a lacklustre run over C&D subsequently, so he's taken to get back on the up and take this competitive 3-y-o event. In-form Elvrika is an obvious danger, as is the hat-trick seeking Cosmos Raj.
