Useful handicapper who wasn't disgraced despite finishing last of 5 in minor event over C&D (good to firm) 36 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Given a chance by the assessor.

Made it 3 from 3 on turf in 8-runner handicap (evens) at Ayr (7.2f, good) in May, winning readily. Should go on improving and leading claims.

Improved further to make it 4 wins from 6 starts this season in 12-runner AW handicap here (1m) 14 days ago. Came in for a good ride that day but should remain competitive up 4 lb.

Latest win at Newmarket in July. 10/1, run best excused when eleventh of 12 in AW handicap here 14 days ago, unsuited by way race developed. Still one to view positively.

Confirmed previous promise when off the mark for the season at Goodwood (7f) in May. More miss than hit since but he's still on a fair mark if recapturing his best form.

2 wins from 6 runs this year, latest at Nottingham in April. 10/1, seemed beaten on merit when fifth of 9 in handicap at Newmarket (8f, good to firm) 63 days ago. Needs to pull out a bit more.

28/1, ran well after 12 weeks off when fifth of 12 in handicap AW handicap here 14 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Still low mileage so may do better still.

Ran out an impressive winner at Killarney in July. Hit hard by the handicapper but still posted respectable sixth in 10-runner handicap at Newcastle (1m) 4 weeks ago.

Forecasts

Hong Kong Harry (4/1), Carolus Magnus (9/2), Billhilly (11/2), Royal Pleasure (13/2), La Maquina (9/1), Hundred Isles (10/1), Dulas (10/1), Sincerest (14/1), Hover (16/1), Lethal Lunch (33/1), Pinnata (40/1)

Verdict

HONG KONG HARRY has been off the track for a few months but it was hard not to be impressed with the manner of his victory on his latest start at Ayr and he should be winning more races on that evidence. Dulas is still on a fair mark if recapturing his best form, with Royal Pleasure completing the shortlist having been unlucky not to finish closer in an AW event here 2 weeks ago.

  1. HONG KONG HARRY (IRE)
  2. DULAS (IRE)
  3. ROYAL PLEASURE (IRE)
