Ardad colt who scored with plenty in hand on second start at Hamilton in June and took his form up a level when landing the Norfolk at Royal Ascot 8 days later. Open to more progress up in trip.

150,000 gns breeze-up buy who scored on debut over C&D before landing another novice without too much fuss at Newmarket. Improved when runner-up in Group 2 there last time so rates a leading player.

Decisive winner at Bath (5f) and took his form up another notch when a close seventh in the Coventry. Doubled his tally in listed event at Newbury 13 days ago but may find a few too good in here.

Clearly not straightforward given he has hung both ways, but has more than his share of talent, supplementing his Doncaster success in the National Stakes, both on soft. Respectable efforts since.

Looked a shade unfortunate not to come out on top on debut at York but made amends next time when making all at Pontefract, still a bit green but again showing lots of pace. More to come.

Well backed when winning novice at Leicester on debut and followed up after 3 months off in 22-runner Super Sprint at Newbury 12 days ago, finishing strongly. Ground an unknown but better to come.

Left debut form well behind to get off the mark in good style at Ripon in April. Good efforts in defeat since, including when sixth to Perfect Power in Norfolk Stakes last month. More needed here.

Verdict

Having already got his head in front twice last month, including over C&D, ASYMMETRIC went down all guns blazing in the Group 2 July Stakes at Newmarket, seeming to come with a winning run but just failing. Alan King's charge can regain the winning thread here. The step up in trip should suit Norfolk-winner Perfect Power so he's feared most, ahead of the unbeaten Gubbass.
