Progressed well to complete a hat-trick at Doncaster (1m) in May, and would have added to his tally had his claimer not mistaken the ½f marker for the winning post back there last time. Big player.

Course winner in April and fared best of those ridden prominently in Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot, but proved a disappointment back in calmer waters at Newmarket last time. Up in trip.

Promising colt who followed up his Chester maiden win in comfortable fashion at Lingfield (10f) in May. Better than the distance beaten suggests at Royal Ascot last time and should still improve.

Small-field maiden win at Pontefract backed up by the clock and good efforts in handicaps next 3 starts. Ran a stinker at Newmarket last time but is the type to bounce back quickly.

Found some improvement for the step up to 10f when making fourth start in handicaps a winning one at Newmarket in June. Followed up in 3-runner affair at Chepstow but heavy ground is an unknown.

An imposing type who shaped well when third in a hot race at Newbury (7f) on reappearance. Wasn't in same form in Esher Cup 7 days later but back on track when sixth at Newmarket 3 weeks ago.

Improved to open his account in handicaps at Epsom in April. Excuses next time and didn't need to improve to resume winning ways at Windsor (10f, soft) 31 days ago. Has to be of firm interest.

Ran out a wide-margin winner on his final 2-y-o outing. Good efforts when runner-up in handicaps at Musselburgh and Newcastle first 2 outings this term, but has gone the wrong way since.

Built on debut promise to land novice event at Epsom (8.5) in April, but lacked a change of gear upped in trip at Nottingham and was too free in first-time cheekpieces at Newbury last time.

Verdict

PATIENT DREAM didn't need to improve to resume winning ways at Windsor last month, but he proved his effectiveness on ground softer than good in the process, which could count for plenty here, so he's put forward as the answer. Alfaadhel remains a colt to be positive about, as does Aerion Power, who was unlucky not to regain the winning thread at Doncaster last time.
