C&D winner who turned in his best effort of the season when fourth of 5 in handicap at Redcar (7f, good to firm) 12 days ago. Capable from this mark so one to bear in mind.
Already landed 2 handicaps (both 7f) this year and posted another cracking effort when second of 18 at York in May. Not seen to best effect there last time and worth treating as if still in top form.
Has slipped in the weights and ran his best race of the season on turf when third in 12-runner handicap at this course (7.2f) 40 days ago. Much respected from same mark.
Returned to form back on turf when second of 14 in 7f handicap at Chester (soft) 57 days ago, running on. Should remain competitive if reproducing that.
Made a promising reappearance when second at Ripon in April, but has made little impact since.
Picked up where he left off in the autumn when making all in 5-runner handicap over C&D (good to firm, 8/1) 21 days ago. 7 lb higher mark asks for more but he should go well again.
Proved at least as good as ever on just his second start for his new stable when runner-up in 9-runner handicap at Thirsk (7f, good to firm) 16 days ago. Should remain competitive.
Proved at least as good as ever to open his account for the season in 9-runner handicap at Thirsk (7f) 16 days ago, keeping on well. Much respected in follow-up bid from only 1 lb higher.
Winner over 7f at Musselburgh on return in April but below form all 3 starts since, carrying his head awkwardly at York last time. Visor on for 1st time.
A switch to patient tactics seemed to suit when readily landing the odds in 4-runner novice at Wolverhampton (6.1f) in May. Just as good when third on Windsor handicap bow since and needs respecting.

Forecasts
Fools Rush In (3/1), Stone Soldier (4/1), Cassy O (5/1), Northernpowerhouse (17/2), Alphonse Karr (17/2), Higher Kingdom (9/1), Danielsflyer (10/1), Baby Steps (12/1), Yoshimi (22/1), Citron Major (50/1)
ALPHONSE KARR ran well in a 3-y-o only event on his handicap debut at Windsor 17 days ago, so he makes appeal now taking on his elders, especially as he probably hasn't shown all he has to offer yet. Stone Soldier posted a good third here last time and is respected from the same mark, with Thirsk-scorer Cassy O completing the shortlist.
