Systemic^t,v²⁴

Age: 4| Weight: 10-2| J: Marco Ghiani⁽³⁾| T: H Palmer| OR: 76| D

14/1

Off the mark at Newcastle in January and solid placed efforts next 2 starts. Not disgraced back from a break at Redcar (1¼m, good to firm), albeit he again looked rather hesitant under pressure.

Form: 0-13395

Berrahri¹³

Age: 10| Weight: 9-8| J: A Kirby| T: J R Best| OR: 68| CD

50/1

Becoming well handicapped, now 7 lb lower than for his C&D success last summer, but he's not getting any younger and needs to bounce back following a sequence of below-par performances.

Form: 57-7358

(4)

Glencora¹²

Age: 4| Weight: 9-8| J: R L Moore| T: D R C Elsworth| OR: 68| D

4/1

Has raised her game the last twice, bagging handicaps at Yarmouth (1¼m) and Leicester (11.8f). Up 5 lb for latest success and this is tougher, but couldn't rule out with Ryan Moore in the hot-seat.

Form: 361-911

(9)

Licit¹⁵

Age: 4| Weight: 9-4| J: Tom Marquand| T: M Moubarak| OR: 64| D

28/1

Opened her account in a soft-ground Haydock handicap last season, but that was off a 4 lb lower mark and represents her sole success from 17 attempts.

Form: 63-7557

Handsome³⁸

Age: 3| Weight: 9-0| J: Oisin Murphy| T: J R Fanshawe| OR: 74

11/8

Signs of ability in maiden/novice company and pulled clear of the rest when runner-up on handicap bow over 1¼m at Leicester (soft). Raised 5 lb for that, but further progress likely now upped in trip.

Form: 57-52

(7)

The Thunderer²³

Age: 3| Weight: 8-11| J: Callum Shepherd| T: C F Wall| OR: 71

8/1

Runner-up on handicap bow/final start for Marco Botti at Wolverhampton in March. Subsequently gelded and again found just one too good for new yard on turf debut at Leicester (1¼m, good to firm).

Form: 3-7022

(6)

Spirit Mixer¹¹

Age: 3| Weight: 8-6| J: Hayley Turner| T: A M Balding| OR: 66| BF

11/4

Gelded following 2-y-o campaign and has performed with credit on each of his 4 starts this season, clear of the rest when going close upped to this trip at Salisbury (good) recently. One to consider.

Form: 06-4332

Forecasts

Handsome (11/8), Spirit Mixer (11/4), Glencora (4/1), Doctor Parnassus (9/2), The Thunderer (8/1), Nawar (8/1), Party Island (12/1), Systemic (14/1), Licit (28/1), Berrahri (50/1)

Having shaped with a good deal of promise on his handicap debut at York, DOCTOR PARNASSUS may well be the answer. He almost certainly has more to offer and the booking of James Doyle adds to his appeal. Handsome boasts a similar profile and is next on the list, though Spirit Mixer and the hat-trick seeking Glencora also command plenty of respect.
