Took well to hurdling in 2018/19, landing a Ludlow maiden. Lightly raced and disappointing on the whole in recent times, though. Tongue tied now.

Fair chaser for Dr Richard Newland and caused a surprise when making a winning debut for this yard in a Chepstow handicap hurdle back from a 22-month layoff. Tame display at Fontwell next time.

Fairly useful hurdler/fair chaser in France. Went backwards from mildly encouraging debut for this yard, so bit to prove now.

Fairly useful on Flat and impressive in winning back-to-back maiden/novice hurdles last summer. Below that level in handicaps since, but has had a wind operation since last run. Also tongue tied.

Fair hurdler who resumed winning ways after 12 weeks off and added to a good course at Fakenham in March. Disappointing since, though.

Landed C&D handicap in March and good efforts at Taunton the last twice. Should remain competitive but this mark demands improvement.

Brother to Sprinter Sacre and easily won Kempton bumper early in 2020. Hasn't lived up to expectations over hurdles but might be suited by a stronger gallop now handicapping.

Firmly on the up and gained second success (both at Southwell) from last 3 outings when overcoming trouble-in-running 20 days ago. Excellent claims once again.

Pair of Market Rasen handicap chase wins last summer but out of sorts when last seen 7 months ago. Likely to need this reappearance back over timber.

Fair 1m winner on Flat but has never really convinced with his stamina over hurdles and produced a laboured performance at Market Rasen 10 days ago. Others preferred.

Forecasts

Flinteur Sacre (2/1), Hurricane Ali (5/2), Clemento (13/2), El Borracho (7/1), Faitque De L'Isle (12/1), Glimpse Of Gold (14/1), Nikki Steel (14/1), Cheng Gong (14/1), Oasis Prince (16/1), Kingofthecotswolds (16/1), Seaborough (25/1), Little Stevie (50/1)

Verdict

HURRICANE ALI did well to get up at Southwell having suffered interference and this progressive 5-y-o is taken to follow up after a 5 lb rise. Cheng Gong arrives in good order and should be respected, while El Borracho is an interesting contender on the back of a breathing operation.

  1. HURRICANE ALI (IRE)
  2. CHENG GONG
  3. EL BORRACHO (IRE)
