Won the Martin Pipe at the 2018 Cheltenham Festival, but has lost his way badly since and is passed over here, for all that he performed with credit when second in a Hexham handicap chase last time.

Fairly useful chaser at his best who left a trio of non-completions in his wake to get back to winning ways over 3m at Fakenham in March. Ran no sort of a race back there last time, though.

Cosy winner at Newcastle in December and went close at Kelso 19 days later. Well below par over hurdles the last twice, but possibilities back in this sphere with cheekpieces/tongue strap refitted.

Now 14 lb below last winning mark, but he arrives here on a 12-race losing run and has offered little in 4 starts since the turn of the year.

Notched 3 wins in 2019, but hasn't offered much encouragement in a trio of starts since returning from a lengthy absence in February.

Nine-time winner between the flags and though winless following 11 attempts under Rules, he went close at Market Rasen last month and should again make his presence felt.

Multiple point winner and fair winning chaser on his day. Best effort for a while when runner-up at Kelso this month and he's not discounted here off the same mark.

Irish point winner who got off the mark under Rules at Kelso in March. Struck again over 23.8f at Perth recently and 5 lb rise shouldn't prevent him from giving another good account.

Maiden hunter chase here in 2019 and twice runner-up back at this track last summer. Unseated rider on his last 2 starts, but the handicapper has relented and a bold show is a distinct possibility.

Landed a 19f Market Rasen handicap in October and has finished in the money off this mark on each of his last 3 starts. Now tried in cheekpieces and he's one to consider.

Veteran who regained the winning thread from 6 lb out of the weights at Newcastle in March. However, got no further than the third fence at Hexham since and others make more appeal.

Largely consistent since switched to fences and didn't do a great deal wrong when runner-up over 2½m at Perth recently. Live each-way chance off the same mark.

Forecasts

Going Mobile (4/1), Blow By Blow (9/2), Dee Star (6/1), Path To Freedom (7/1), Hitman Fred (17/2), Istimraar (11/1), Justforjames (14/1), Absolutely Dylan (14/1), Scoop The Pot (16/1), Racing Pulse (16/1), Sackett (20/1), Westend Theatre (22/1), Chanceiton (80/1)

Verdict

The fact that DEE STAR has failed to complete the last twice has to be a concern, but the return to this course (form figures here read 1422) may well spark a return to form and he is worth chancing in an open-looking contest. Going Mobile arrives on the back of a string of decent placed efforts and is next on the list ahead of Scoop The Pot and Racing Pulse.
